Anyone else read it?

Hope24 posted 11/2/2012 02:28 AM

Not yet, but I'm dying to! What did you think?

neverendinghurt posted 11/2/2012 22:30 PM

It could be triggery for some people.

It isn't the best thing I have read but it's not the worse.

It's a bit like a bad soap.

Hope24 posted 11/3/2012 03:45 AM

Infidelity doesn't bother me but based on your review, it doesn't sound very good. Thanks, NEH.

Skye posted 11/3/2012 08:37 AM

I'm with Hope. Infidelity doesn't trigger me, but "bad soap"--think I'll skip it, too.

Am reading a very fun book called "The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry." Suspect it has infidelity, but it is starting out delightfully.

NEH, takes place in England, so you may enjoy it even more than I am.

I have not read this but my sister has. Her overall review was..."meh".

She said it wasn't bad.. wasn't good. Just sort of "meh".

Hope24 posted 11/3/2012 10:27 AM

There are too many great books to settle for "meh".

And I should have said that infidelity doesn't trigger me not that it doesn't bother me. Sheesh.

metamorphisis posted 11/3/2012 11:36 AM

Agreed Hope.. and I was such a Potter fan that I know I will be unfair if I read it and expect magic and to be enthralled. Again, I shouldn't .. but I know I would.
Going to check out that other book Skye is recommending as I have learned over the years if Skye loves it.. I will too.

neverendinghurt posted 11/3/2012 12:33 PM

Skye, I posted about The Unlikely Pilgrmage a few weeks ago, I think the thread is on page two now. I think one other person has read it too.

It's a shame about A Casual Vacancy because the story did have potential.

A local parish councilor drops dead suddenly creating a "casual vacancy" on the parish council.

It could have been an interesting, funny book and she does have some interesting characters in the book, but somehow it just didn't work.

neverendinghurt posted 11/3/2012 12:40 PM

I am currently reading "Call the Midwife" but I think I will start a new thread

OMG, the pressure.

metamorphisis posted 11/3/2012 15:30 PM

No pressure! It's just that I have read many of the books you've recommended and always like them

So funny you say that, Meta, because I tend to love the same books both you and Skye recommend. We need our own little book club.

Skye posted 11/4/2012 08:14 AM

Thanks, Hope and Meta. Let's try to keep up with the "what are you reading now thread" to keep each other up on our books.
