This is an amazing book thus far, part 2 in a 3 part series... I just picked it up - my friend had left it at my place. I have not read the first of the three, however, this book seems strong enough as a stand-alone that you will make complete sense of the story.
I've burned through 800 of its 1000 pages in less than a week - it's that good.
If you like fantasy, subtle and explicit magic, conniving, plots, faeries and demons, this is an amazing book to give a shot.

Oh you have to read the first one, The Name of the Wind! It's awesome and I fell in love with Kvothe and his mind, his friends, his world, and pretty much his entire story arc.
I actually didn't quite love Wise Man's Fear as much as the first book, but had I read it before the first book I wouldn't have realize it could have gotten better!
He's going to write another someday.

I agree with Circle. I loved the first one and liked the 2nd one. I admit I fell in love with Kvothe too.
I still don't know what's going on.

Count me in on the Kvothe love too.
DS18 found these books and described them as Harry Potter for grown ups!
Can't wait for part 3.
