I usually read urban fantasy books... I have a thing for vampires

I really like to read series because I enjoy getting to know the characters and watching them develop.

I just finishes Kim Harrison's newest book in the Rachel Morgan/Hollows series. It was awesome!

Anyone have any suggestion?

If you're looking for only vampires: the Chicagoland Vampire series by Chloe Neill; the Night Huntress and spin off books by Jeaniene Frost, the True Blood books by Charlaine Harris. If you don't mind other types of creatures The Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead, the Guild Hunter Series by Nalini Singh (this also has vampires) The Elder Races series by Thea Harrison. Let me know if you want other suggestions. These are paranormal urban fantasy series.

Thank you!

I've already read the Sookie books! The last one of the series comes out in May and I can't wait.

Bloodline I started but I had a hard time getting into it after reading The Vampire Acadamy series. I guess I just wasn't feeling the main character.

I've also read the Night Huntress series which I loved!

I'll check out the other 2 suggestions! I honestly don't mind other types of creatures either so if you have any others, I'd love to know!

I think my problem is I read so much that I've probably come close to tacking most popular series.

Also, I read the Hunger Games and was completely enthralled in that series so anything along those lines would do too!

Thank you so much!!!

If you haven't read them try The Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher.

Ditto Waking.

I recently bought the entire series including the Dresden anthology. Almost from the first book, the characters seem almost like good friends you've known for years. Three different kinds of vampires, werewolves, even Faeries so plenty of fantasy characters. Urban, you bet as it takes place in Chicago.

ETA: and since there are now 13 books (plus the book of short stories) the series will take even an avid reader a while to get through.

I was also going to recommend good ol' Harry Desden. The author has another fantasy series called the Codex Alera that I really loved the first couple, but found the last couple a bit harder. Might be worth a shot.

Since you liked Hunger Games, have you read the Eragon series? It's also YA. How about the Inkheart books?

Have you read the All Soul's Trilogy (only 2 are out at this point) by Deborah Harkness? It's about witches, vampires & daemons; time travel; that sort of thing. I've read the first two (A Discovery of Witches and Shadow of Night) and am waiting for the 3rd installment. There is also a movie in the works for A Discovery of Witches.

I'm a total urban fantasy/paranormal romance junkie, Sookie is my favorite but there are some other good series too.

Succubus Series by Richelle Mead - Vampires, succubi, angels, and demons are the type of creatures in this book.

Mercy Thompson Series by Patricia Briggs - Shape shifters with a female "coyote" as the main character.

There is another thread in the Book Club forum for Laurell K Hamilton - she has a series with vampires - I'm not a huge fan but some people really like her work.

Kate Daniels Series by Iona Andrews. I started this book but didn't have the time and never finshed. I've read reviews that the series gets so much better after the first book - I believe there are a range of creatures from witches to vampires is this series.

Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning - This is a must read if you haven't already. The creatures are human and fae.

Black Dagger Brotherhood - J R Ward. Vampires - this series is pretty long and each book focuses on one of the vampire characters and him falling in love. There is also a long story arch carried through the series. I really liked the first few books but got bored after a while.

There are two other places that I have found that have a lot of discussion about this genre of books besides goodreads.com. I lurk on the sookieverseblog for book suggestions - it's on their forum under general - off topic - books. Obviously the members on that site are huge sookie fans and discuss a lot of other related books. The other site I find suggestions are charlaine harris's official site. On the forum she does a "book and blog" where she reviews a variety of books, usually one being urban fantasy. Also on that site members discuss other paranormal romance/urban fantasy recommendations. If you go to her website, click on community forum - other writers, you will see an extensive list of other authors in that genre.

Wow! Thanks for all of the reccomedations!

This helps so much! The only ones mentioned that I've already read are,

Mercy Thompson series

I got through the first five of Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series but after that I thought they went downhill.

Fever series, which is one of my favorite series!

Thank you again so much! This list should keep me busy for awhile
