I saw this video from soul pancake about strangers meeting and sharing. It reminds me a lot of what it is like to attend a g2g.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?featureplayer_embedded&vHfHV4-N2LxQ

ETA the link doesn't seem to consistently work. Search for soulpancake ball pit if you want to see.

ETA again something is causing the = to be dropped. There should be one after 'feature' and another after 'embedded&v'

*Looks at deeply scared, hops up and down* Can we have a ball pit?! Can we have a ball pit?!

DS and MH do have a nice new pool. Maybe they could drain it (only took two days to fill, right? ) and fill it with balls for the weekend...

Nice knowing you, Ama.

Aw. I thought you were gonna say you were nervous about going to g2gs....

MovingUpward posted 3/13/2013 15:05 PM

Sisoon,

I will tell you that I was very nervous about going to my first one and if I wasn't already 6hrs from home I would have probably turned around and gone home. But I went on and had a great time meeting Kuwaited, Madseason, SerJr, SadCat, Cantlivewithouth, and bbee. It was much like the ball pit video.

I wasn't nervous going to my first G2G in Chattanooga in October but as I am getting closer to the airport, I am getting a little nervous this time. I mean really. There are going to be 35 of us there. And it will be at SI HQ! I didn't even pack a tie for the formal banquet. Lol.

wow - that was an AWESOME video!!! Just loved it!

Tred and I will be attending our first GTG in May!

One day we hope to make it to TX and help with the Christmas card exchange! - It's on our bucket list!

Only instead of a ball pit you had Ramen.

I remember going to my first g2g in Atlanta. I drove by myself from NOVA to North Carolina, stayed the night with another former SI member, took her with me to Atlanta and stayed with Kuwaited. We all had a great time. I was a nervous wreck, but I was so glad I went.

I really enjoy going and wish my schedule allowed for time to go to more.

I've not only met some of the nicest people at the few get togethers I've gone to, but I ended up feeling like I had known them for years. There is something so welcoming and kind about these people who know your pain.
It is soooo intimidating at first but I found I was at ease quickly.

I am proud to know some really good people..truly good people from these boards. I so wish I could be with you all this weekend but it makes me happy to know my friends are going to have such a nice time

bbee posted 3/17/2013 17:16 PM

Yeah, moo, that was a great g2g. We also talked to Chopper on the phone. Also, SerJr says "aboot."

Very cool video. And you're right about it being similar to the g2g experience. But without the adult beverages.

I took it slow; I met AN & LD first, then about 5 months later I went to SierraGrace's house for New Year's eve and met 5 more SI member. The rest is history I had many good SI friends in Phoenix and I'm making new ones in Houston.

Don't be shy about reaching out to SI members; they are the best people in the world.

I'll see what I can do for the Oct G2G as far as ball pits... we may need to sneak into a Chuck E Cheese...who's in?

This!!

It is so out of my normal routine to do something like travel by plane to meet up with a bunch of people I only knew from the internet....and I did it twice!

One of the best decisions I ever made.

Chrysalis...

And sleep in a room with one of those strangers
