I'm making a large taco salad (lettuce, tomato, Doritos, cheese, beans, onion, taco hamburger, and Western Dressing) for supper tomorrow. I'm cooking for a large family (seven people...three adults, and four teenagers) and need something to go with it, as a side (going to take some kind of fruit and dessert). I thought of maybe taking some kind of rolls or something...ideas???

How about some cheese quesidillas? Those are super easy to make and would go well with your salad

I always do fruit salad with taco salad... it sounds like you have that covered though.

Taquitos might be fun... and you can't go wrong with homemade guacamole! (I'm assuming you accidentally left "avocado" off your list of salad ingredients... )

Hmmmm....cheese quesadilla's are easy and quick. I think I'll do that

Jrazz, The people I am cooking for are VERY picky! Tomato and onion are pushing it and I'm only doing those b/c I am going to chop them up really small and add them into the hamburger

I think I may have Do3K make chocolate chip cookies...he makes awesome cookies

I don't think chocolate chip cookies go into a taco salad!

Did you ever consider using taco sauce or salsa as the dressing instead of Western Dressing?

Or maybe... have all three on the side for people to choose?

I love Ortega Smooth and "something" Taco Sauce... Shoot... I can't recall the whole name now.

Oh and sour cream and guacamole is a must!

I don't like taco salad.... I'm one of those picky eater types. Cheese quesadillas would be great with it!!

They actually LOVE Do3K cookies So, that's why I was kinda thinking those, but I'm out of Crisco so no go

Thy don't like guac or sour cream...and they don't like chunky salsa Like I said, they're picky (esp the kids ).

Thanks for all of the input...thinking salad with quesadillas, fruit, and dessert

Tex Mex Potatoes!

This is my own recipe and goes well with Taco Salad ... or anything.

5-6 Medium potatoes

Onion

Tomato sauce (small can)

1 Jalapeno pepper

Slice and brown potato slices until slightly brown. Drain any oil/grease.

Add finely chopped onion (or no onion if you prefer) and add to browned potatoes

Add one Jalapeno pepper, finely chopped.

Add small can of tomato sauce and one-half can (tomato sauce can) of water.

Add 2 tablespoons of Jalapeno pepper juice

Cover and simmer, stirring often.

When done, empty into large bowl and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top. (cheese will melt.)

Serve as side dish with Tex Mex food OR as a dip served with chips. Yummy good!

Are you and the family eating this or are you feeding the other family only?

we use Picante sauce (medium hotness) on our taco salad. and my family doesn't do "chunky" sauce either. I always have to run it through the blender before serving. quesidillas (sp?) sound yummy as a side!

I come from a family of picky eaters. If I were providing the meal - I would make a salad bar and let them make their own salad and put what they want in it. That way everyone gets what they like. Cheese Q's are a great idea.
