I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed right now and I'm hoping it's Fullmoonitis coming up this week.

TONS of anxiety about things going on with me. Some good, some bad. Trying to be patient (always tough) and proactive at the same time. I'd rather juggle knives.

I just need a few things to go right for me for once.

Doing the "breathe in, breathe out" stuff. It's not working so well.

Cover me peeps. I really don't want to go back to my friend, Xanax.

TIA,

AJ's MOM

I know how you feel...I have had some extra anxiety myself..Up coming shoulder surgery next wk and a few thousand other things..My doctor suggested taking an extra 1/2 pill of lorazapam. Only 1 mg..I'm like you I don't want to ever go back on Xanax or Zoloft again..

I just hope you and I can get through all this without going back to one of those harder drugs...

Hang in there girlie..Things will get better....((((ajsmom)))))))

I love Xanax. Can't you just take one to calm yourself down a bit? I don't take it regularly, just when I'm feeling like you are now. Usually one pill takes the edge off and once I calm down, I can talk myself into staying calmer.
Just a thought.

AJsmom,

(((hugs))). Maybe a fast walk around the block? And I have been known to cut 1 of those xanax in half.

InnerLight posted 4/9/2013 12:06 PM

There are natural alternatives to Xanax that may be just enough to take the edge off for you:

Herbal tinctures - 1/2 to 1 dropper full in a small amount of water, swig it down fast they don't taste good:
Hops
Valerian
Passion Flower
Skullcap

Nutrition:
GABA - 300-750mg
Magnesium Glycinate: 300-500mg

Cut back on caffeine too.

This is what I do when I am anxious and it really makes a difference. Save the meds for extreme cases to avoid the rebound effects and side effects.

A small percentage of the population has an opposite response to Valerian, it's a sedative and muscle relaxant for most people.

You may only need one of these suggestions, I don't mean that you have to all of them.

Good luck!

Thank you all so much.

I'm feeling a bit better. I've been caffeine free since 2002 (arrhythmia issues) so it's been some lovely decaf Lemon Zinger for me today. Trust me there are days that I wish I could have caffeine.

On the occasion that I do take it, I usually do cut it in half. I'm just trying really hard to get through these times with my own (and that of friends) resolve.

Thanks again for all the support. It is truly appreciated and much needed right now.

Hang in there. I keep the Ativan handy for those once-in-a-blue moon episodes.

(((big hugs!!)))

I had a weird dream that I know is anxiety related. Maybe something is in the air?
