Fidelity isn't a feeling...it's a choice.
One of my favorite things about being a mom...getting asked questions like these from my boy. He was at his team's Opening Day game yesterday.
DA MOMMY: yo
DA MOMMY: how was the game?
AJ: nice win
DA MOMMY: shoot
AJ: is ketchup like a "must refrigerate" kinda thing?
DA MOMMY: lol
DA MOMMY: depends
DA MOMMY: 'splain what happened to it
AJ: we had this like
AJ: pouch oí ketchup
DA MOMMY: and?
AJ: has a lil twistable top on it
AJ: and by "had" I mean itís been in my trunk since the Rose Bowl
AJ: along with other condiment packets I save from fast food places
DA MOMMY: So it was opened in January and kept in heated conditions until Opening Day in April?
DA MOMMY: lolz
DA MOMMY: what I'm getting at is if it wasn't opened you were prolly ok...opened and used then left like that for four months...prolly not so much.
DA MOMMY: That said, ketchup is mostly sugar and vinegar. The balance between the two won't kill you.
DA MOMMY: the key was if it had bubbles when you used it
DA MOMMY: that's usually the sign that it's turned
AJ: didnít even open it yet
AJ: will probably just toss it
DA MOMMY: yes. Best to do so. Thought you used it yesterday.
A short while later:
AJ: how long are like mustard packets good for?
DA MOMMY: as long as they're not opened a long while
DA MOMMY: if they're runny when you open them, don't use them
