...which means my DD got her first real motorcycle ride today!

She a total biker chick and definitely my daughter, kept yelling "Faster daddy, faster!!!"

permanentpain posted 4/12/2013 18:10 PM

awww, too cute! I did get a little concerned when I read the title

Jrazz posted 4/12/2013 18:12 PM

The square, uptight mom in me is having a panic attack right now. (Or rather when I saw the pic earlier)

The rest of my brain thinks that's pretty awesome!!!

(DD3's FAVORITE thing in the world is to ride in the truck with daddy. )

jrc1963 posted 4/13/2013 08:42 AM

I have no problem with her riding...

But I would've put her in long pants and a long sleeve shirt and jacket. and sensible, tied on shoes.

I used to love riding.

Lol, we are normally wearing blue jeans and long sleeve. This was what xWW sent her with so we just made do.

Im hoping to get her and her brother each their own helmet, she needs a pink one, and riding jackets. That way I have everything with me.

Too cute, I got a little freaked with the title..

Is she a 'pink' girl? Don't forget to paint a bow on the back. LOL.

"Faster daddy, faster!!!"

I have a couple of these in my nest... and the speeding tickets that went along with it. LOL.

Enjoy her dlmos... she's precious.

Hugs,

K

OMG! Isn't there some sort of safety belt to hold her onto the bike!?

Sorry, the panicky mother in me is coming out.

Side note, my daughter would live a ride on a bike. She would be saying the same thing. I think I feel an ulcer coming on...

Unagie posted 4/13/2013 21:48 PM

Lol I read the title and went wait wasn't he just confused about signals being sent now he's checking to see if they're legal!!! He's trying to trick me....I must click thread.

When I saw the pic I thought awww she's so cute..HOLY CRAP IS SHE ON THE BACK OF A BIKE!?!? IS THERE A SEAT BELT OR A FULLY STRAPPED IN SEAT LIKE ON THOSE ROLLER COASTERS!?!? Then I calmed down lol.

karmahappens posted 4/13/2013 22:22 PM

OMG that would scare the crap out of me.

Ok, call me stupid but do kids just hold on?

I know...I know ...you are probably a safe driver, but it's the wack-jobs out there driving around you I would be afraid of.

I have always wanted to ride a bike, but just couldn't do it.

I am such a wuss....

She is a cutie though...and I am sure she loves it.

Lol, don't worry I only take them around the residential areas, 10-15 minutes rides. No highways or anything dangerous. By yes they just hold on. I have the bags and back rest to help them stay stable and keep them away from the pipes or rubbing the tires, but they have no problem holding on.

A seat belt though would be far more dangerous. The bike weighs a couple hundred pounds and if we do lay it down the last thing you want is be attached to the bike. I could really injure her by it falling on her or dragging her with it. But unrestrained she would just roll away. Still no fun but a lot better than broken bones or worse.

I actually plan to swap out for motorcycle side car set up in a year or two, then we can take a trip

karmahappens posted 4/14/2013 02:33 AM

Wow...I would be afraid to hold on...lol

I told my husband I wanted a three wheeler cuz I would love to ride but don't have the guts...he just laughed.

My kids told me I could get a tricycle cuz I suck at driving a car nevermind any kind of motorcycle lol

Have fun!!

Cool. I remember riding on the back of my dads bike (and in front when I was a wee little thing) and the memories last forever!
I still have my license but its been a few years since I've ridden.

Kajem posted 4/14/2013 13:52 PM

I have a friend who got the sidecar for his DD. His wife rides in back. They pull a little trailer with their camping gear... They seem to have a lot of fun when they go.

Bikefest is coming up in my town. We are the family friendly bike destination in FL. Unlike Daytona.

Just in case you want to have some place to go on that ride of yours dlmos.

Hugs,

K

Dude, what's with making her a passenger? Get her her own dirt bike

But seriously, that's sweet that you're sharing your hobby with your kids.

Amazonia posted 4/14/2013 17:12 PM

cayc, now that you have your bike back, I think we need pics of you riding too

dlmos posted 4/14/2013 18:19 PM

I totally agree she need her own! Sadly "squirrel syndrome" is making it hard to get her by bicycle off of training wheels But I do think DD and DS should learn to drive in a vw dune buggy in a few years, does that still count?

K I totally need a road trip!

Come on y'all, show us yer rides!

Sad in AZ posted 4/14/2013 18:23 PM

Have you ever ridden with a sidecar? It's a completely different experience--more like driving a car. I hate riding in a sidecar--you're at wheel level with the cars!

Kajem posted 4/14/2013 18:40 PM

dlmos,

If I get to Bikefest this year, I'll take some pics of the kids rides..maybe that will inspire her.
