For those who aren't nurses, the NCLEX is the exam we have to take and pass in order to receive our nursing license from our states. It's a big old ugly test and it is looming in the near future.

As part of my nursing classes I had to take a "comprehensive predictor" test from a company called ATI. This test is 2% of my final grade in a pass/fail basis. I either make the benchmark score and get the 2 points or I don't and I get 0 points.

The benchmark score was 70%, which equates to a roughly 91% chance of passing the NCLEX on the first try.

My score was a 79.3%, which is a roughly 98% chance of passing in the first try.

I am waiting for the results of my last regular exam. And I have two oral presentations, one written final exam, one mock NCLEX exam (computer based test), and three shifts in the ICU and then I'm done with this degree and on my way to pinning!

Getting down to those last few classes/tests was the best part of going back to college. Enjoy your countdown!

You will do great on the NCLEX. When I took it, I cried all the way home. I just knew I knew failed. I passed with flying colors, so don't let it get to you down. Nursing is a wonderful field with so many opportunities for advancement and so many different fields to go into to. I have been a med/surg nurse, OR/PACU nurse, house supervisor, education coordinator, IT computer analyst (Elecronic medical record), and now I am a certified legal nurse. When other nurses say they are burned out, I always tell them that it means it is time to try something else. Some nurses tend to stay in the same field all their career and never want to try new things. I was always the opposite. About 6yrs is the longest I lasted in any one of my choices, then I move on and try something new. Hopefully I can stick with this last one until I decide to retire. Just look forward to your career and never stop learning new things. The sky is the limit and you will always be able to find a job and support yourself. I wish you alot of luck and if you ever need a fellow nurse to vent to, just send me a PM. (((HUGS))))
