I want to rent a good movie from iTunes and watch it on my Mac tonight.
So. What's good?

I think I am in the mood for drama. Because I don't get enough of it between here and my kids

Maybe a thriller?

I am stumped.

Is Silver Linings Playbook available yet? That was great!

Sad in AZ posted 4/19/2013 21:33 PM

Lincoln was wonderful too.

caregiver9000 posted 4/19/2013 21:36 PM

Rise of the Guardians was stunningly beautiful and very very sweet.

I was captivated.

Lincoln was excellent.

I was "underwhelmed" and sometimes irritated by Silver Linings Playbook...

silverhopes posted 4/19/2013 21:43 PM

Don't know if these are dramas or thrillers...

Recently watched The Shawshank Redemption on UnexpectedSong's recommendation and A Clockwork Orange on aesir's recommendation, both really good movies (next are Godfather Parts I and II on Jrazz' rec).

Are you in the mood for light or heavy drama/thriller?

metamorphisis posted 4/19/2013 21:49 PM

Oh you guys are giving me great ideas!! I think Lincoln wins tonight if it's out because I really wanted to see it in the theatre but never made it. Thank you!

BaxtersBFF posted 4/19/2013 21:53 PM

Thriller? How about the Bourne Identity? Or one of that series?

Just remember to stop there. There is no real Godfather III movie, just some pos fanfic going by that name.

I highly recommend the animated adventure movie Wreck It Ralph.

I watched Zero Dark Thirty recently and it was pretty good!

Sweet! Adding it to the list.

I've been into old movies a la Turner Classic Movies, some of which I never heard of before:

The Quiet American (early US involvement in Viet Nam, main character has left his wife)
The 7th Dawn (Malaya shortly before independence)
Charade
Rome, Open City (Rome shortly before the Nazis retreated)
Seven Samurai/ Magnificent Seven
Flame over India (Lauren Bacall, etc., India during partition)

Not thrillers, but...
Monsoon Wedding
The Wedding Banquet

Jacob's Ladder is a good flick. Timothy Robbins is great in this film. And it's based on a true story.

So many suggestions!! Thank you! We're going to watch Lincoln tonight. I ended up watching a few episodes of Law and Order last night

Silver Linings Playbook is next.

I am keeping this list because we seem to have a mental block whenever we want to download a movie even though we know there's things we want to see.

I LOVED Jacobs Ladder and saw it in the theatre twice!
And aesir.. Wreck it Ralph is a fan favourite in this house. My ds LOVES it, but we all really enjoyed it.

Our family really enjoyed Parental Guidance. My little guy(6) to my older kids (19-28) and even my mom(79) all laughed and had a good time watching it.

Well, here is the geek in me talking. Go for Phantom of the Opera or Les Miserables, wow, what great music!

Came back to say: Wreck-It Ralph = awesome, hilarious movie!!! Thank you aesir and meta!

Now, adding all the rest of these movies to the list.

You might consider renting Argo. I know it's out for rent since hubby and I rented it through Vudu. After seeing it I can understand why Ben Affleck walked away with all those awards. I'm seriously thinking about buying it for my collection.

Oh, and I second any of the Bourne movies.

metamorphisis posted 5/5/2013 21:13 PM

Yes.. Argo was one of those ones I wanted to see and then forgot about! Will put that on the list.

Dh and I have downloaded and are currently watching the series "Vikings" from the History channel. It's no Game of Thrones, but it's pretty darn good.

I read a review that said all the lead characters look like they would make the best Metal band ever and it made me snort. It's true

For something different-an obscure film from a couple years ago called This Must Be The Place. Sean Penn is amazing in it. Don't pay too much attention to the description, its about much more than they say.
