My daughter is really good at drawing. So she ends up showing me how she draws this cartoon character (she likes to pause cartoons and sketch them), and I started doing my own drawing to her instructions. She seemed really excited to be able to show me how to do it. It made me really happy.

(She's only six, too!)

It's nice because it seems like it's so easy to shortchange kids when all this painful stuff is going on. I have a couple goals I track to make sure I spend enough time a week going out and doing things with her and reading with her, though. I don't know if that sounds cold, like I don't want to.. but it's just on any given day it's easy to feel stressed out and tired and put it off. However, I find when I make the effort to do something worthwhile with her, I generally enjoy it a lot.

I see a refrig full of drawings (by both of you!!)
