Hi all
Just a quick update on my dog. We went to the vet this moring. This is vet #4 mind you. OK, did a skin scraping and it is NOT menge. Vet thinks it is allergies. So now we are on a plan of a steroid shot a month for the rest of his life. Also he is on "better" dog food. For those who are wondering, he is 11 years old and so the quality of life is more important than prolonging his life. If those shots make him feel better, then by all means, that is what I have to do for him.
I want to thank everyone for your pm's and your hugs and responses. Thank you for taking the time out to write me and thank you for sharing your own struggles and stories with me.
It is sencerely appreciated. I hope to be of help to you guys with whatever I can bring to the table.

Biggest hugs,

Sounds like you finally found an answer that works for both you and the furbaby.

I had a lahsapoo on steroids (pills) for the last 10 years of her life d/t a grass allergy. It worked, and she was not aggravated with the side effects of the steroid.

Good Luck, and I so agree that Quality is way more important that Quantity when it comes to our furbabies. They are with us for such a short time anyway.

Hope she continues to improve.

You won't regret the "better" dog food. We have a 15 yr old yorkie poo who used to scratch himself raw. Steroid shots would give some temporary relief, but the itching came back. I finally discovered a grain-free pet store, & it has made a huge difference!

His favorite dry is Orijen senior. But he loves canned food: Instinct rabbit & pork are great, the Merrick grain free stews are good. His New favorite is Red Barn with bully sticks in it. Sure hope this works for you!
