So....its a very normal thing to hear me say "Keep it in the bowl", when DS 4 goes to the bathroom...he hasn't sat down to pee in about a year.

Little did I know that he apparently thinks the trash can is ok to pee in, because when I emptied it this morning to take to trash, there was at least an inch of pee in there

Also, he has discovered the underware opening that he can 'pee' through, but it takes time to get his penis out of the hole in the underware....last night he ws doing a dance and then ran to the bathroom...instead of just pulling down the drawers...he pee'd himself Poor kid...he was pretty excited he got a bath out of that deal though.

Ah I remember those days well. My parents had friends that had 4 boys, and that mom is my idol. She made those boys clean the bathroom once a week from the time that they were about 5. They are all fastidious in the bathroom. I have a 16 year old that I did the same thing with, and he rarely is messy when it comes to the toilet. He does not like to clean up his urine.
Hang in there it will get better.

That sounds smart. I taught my sons many things, but cleaning the bathroom wasn't one of them.

I remember wondering why I was the only person in my house that DIDN'T pee on the floor, yet I was the one on my hands and knees cleaning it up.

I say YES to teaching young men to clean up their own mess in the bathroom!

My DS, he's 11.5, has to clean his own bathroom... and the misses and messes have decreased to zero.

Now I don't cringe when I walk into his bathroom anymore.

Mama_of_3_Kids posted 4/24/2013 18:23 PM

Hmmm...I think I may implement jrc's cleaning idea. My boys are 12 and 9; they still have aiming problems

nowiknow23 posted 4/24/2013 18:39 PM

Mama - You won't regret it.

I have two boys so I get it. What I don't get is how do you miss? I mean damn, IT'S A STRAIGHT SHOT!

jrc1963 posted 4/24/2013 18:47 PM

The miss because they get distracted and look around and, well, they swing their whole body to look... Can you picture it.

I know two grown men who sit down for both just so they can keep it in the bowl... and boy do I appreciate it when they use my facilities.

Oh boy! Do I know what you are going through!! (Except peeing in the trash can...my 4 yr old hasn't tried that yet.)
I do make him clean up his misses though...he tries very hard to hit the mark.

You should thank your lucky stars your sons aren't like my brothers. Both sleepwalked when they were young and it manifested itself in their peeing in EVERYTHING--the hamper, my parents bedroom closet, out the back door.

nowiknow23 posted 4/24/2013 19:30 PM

I have a dear friend who has a son. No matter how much they scrubbed the bathroom he used, they couldn't get rid of the urine smell. So she bought a black light to see where the pee was.

It was EVERYWHERE. He had peed EVERYWHERE. On the walls. In the trashcan. Into the bathroom wall vent. All over the side of the bathtub. ON THE BACK OF THE DOOR!

Every. Where.

She threw up when she saw it all.

They showed him the stains under the black light, made him clean it. Put the black light back on it to show where he'd missed. Made him clean it again.... Until NOTHING showed under the black light. It took most of a Saturday.

A couple of days later, she took the black light into his bedroom.

It was in shoes. The Lego bin. Every dresser drawer. Every toy... And the carpet! Oh, the carpet. It got torn out.

My son did this, his room stunk. Got a black light (sell them on Amazon to look for pet urine) and holy shit, that kid had peed EVERYWHERE. His room, the hall, the bathroom, and down the steps.

I can laugh now, it was 3 years ago.

To little boys, it's just another toy and seeing how many "targets" they can hit with the pee is a great game! Then they try to write their name and draw pictures, all kinds of fun stuff! Really, that's what they do - ask them!

BTDT, caught him in the act. I remember a daycare lady being all horrified when he peed all over the trash can in her bathroom. She didn't appreciate it when I laughed. (She had a daughter) Boys do this, it's part of the deal!

Mama_of_3_Kids posted 4/24/2013 21:01 PM

Do3K sleepwalks...thank God that isn't a problem for him

tushnurse posted 4/25/2013 07:39 AM

Oh sweet Jesus NIK, My boy is 16, I will not take a black light in his room. What I can't see is better for all of us.
My daugter refuses to even go in his room.

I remember another time...

He had to go to the doctor because we thought he may have a UTI or something. The kid had to pee in a cup. Thought it was the bee's knees.

He was so excited to do this that when he got home, he got a cup out of the dishwasher, put it on the floor and FILLED IT UP!....omg.

I saw the whole thing go down....and just was flabbergasted. I didnt want to scream and have him piss all over the floor, but i was laughing to hard after to discipline him.

I cleaned the bathroom head to toe because it smelled like pee....it was horrible. Could not figure it out.

Then one day i saw DS going ot the bathroom and figured it out.

He was 'shooting' the turkeys that were on the shower curtian because Daddy was shooting turkeys so he was too

In our family room (which is downstairs) I have a vintage brass spittoon near the fireplace. One day whilst dusting the mantel of the fireplace I looked down and saw some foamy stuff in the spittoon.

Oh, yeah, DS3 had been peeing in the spittoon for quite awhile. Seems he didn't want to leave the room and miss his program so peed in the spittoon on many occasions.

nik, that has got to be the worst pee story evah!

TrulyReconciled posted 4/25/2013 08:50 AM

NIK - do the black lights come with eye bleach???
