When we moved here we had a lot of "stuff" but other than our beds, no furniture. There was no fridge or stove, the only appliance was an old microwave. My parents got us a fridge and stove.

The old tenants left behind a side table, coffee table and TV stand. Our first couple of dinners were at the coffee table.

Since then wh has found, for free, a matching sofa, loveseat and chair (which creepy enough has almost the exact same pattern/colour) as my old sofa that got damaged, a kitchen table & 4 chair set (beautiful wood), A 53" projection TV (Nemo is HUGE!!!), a washing machine and a water cooler.

All I need now is a dryer lol

My parents are totally thrilled and a bit jealous, our TV is larger than theirs (so is my oven so Thanksgiving will be held here lol).

Everyone had upgraded so they were giving away the old stuff which has suited us great. I'll be hooking up the washer today (is it weird that I am really excited to be able to do laundry?, I have a clothes line outside I can't wait to use too).

So other than the fridge and stove, everything we have is second hand but I am loving it all!!!

Free stuff rocks lol

It is a great change for us. Less stress for sure.

I am amazed at what people are willing to give away for free. We are right beside an auction house. We got a chance to go in there and WOW!!!!! The furniture alone was amazing! I stayed outside during one of the auctions and listened, the guy is amazing to hear. I thought I could talk fast lol.

I will "pass it forward" every chance I get. We have been so lucky in the last month. Everything is coming together perfectly

Leap and the net will appear. That's what they say.

But the saying mentions nothing about massive TVs LOL!

I'm guessing the shit-magnet energy has been reversed in a big way. Someone is looking out for ya.

I love love *love* a clothesline.

No hadn't heard of that one.

The sofa set wh saw online but it turned out to be a friend of my brothers.

It's funny, up until now we saw a lot of ads for free washer/dryer sets. Now that we are looking all I have seen are washers. No dryers.

Yes I love clothes lines, well for big stuff. I know that's all they used to use way back when but I would prefer the Neighbours didn't know what kind of underwear I use

Since the house we were in is flea infested I have everything bagged up tight and out on the back deck until I can wash it all. The clothes we have been using were all washed before we moved in. I have at least ten bags of clothes and another couple of bedding/blankets that need washing. I bagged up the stuff at the back of our closet but I might end up throwing that stuff out. The closet was full of mold.

We really lucked out on the TV. It didn't fit into the truck lol. Had to borrow my dads trailer. It is actually a bit big for the size of our living room but I was amazed at how light it is. The turtles in Finding Nemo are life size

I think someone is watching over us too. Now to find a new car and we will be set.

DragnHeart, I believe both Craigslist and Kijiji have a Free Stuff section. If you take it away, you get it free.

Yep. We have been using the latter. I just didn't know if I could post that here.

Saw one of those huge playset with swings, slide, rope ladder for free but wasn't able to get there. With the car not working wh has to take the truck to work. Dd has been bugging us for one of those sets lol.

We did bring over the small swings (that you tie to a tree branch) and set them up. Made her happy. We also have two parks nearby so she can play there.

The only things we need are the dryer and a shelving unit for our movies. Right now they are still in boxes. We have one dresser here (just have to get it upstairs into our bedroom...I tried but couldn't lift it and the stairs wind around which I know I couldn't do alone lol) and another on the way so we are good there.
