I love music and these 2 songs have really meant something to me in this whole R process. I hope you take the time to have a listen:

Whatever It Takes
Lifehouse

A strangled smile fell from your face
It kills me that I hurt you this way
The worst part is that I didn't even know

Now there's a million reasons for you to go
But if you can find a reason to stay

I'll do whatever it takes
To turn this around
I know what's at stake
I know that I've let you down

And if you give me a chance Believe it, I can change
I'll keep us together Whatever it takes

She said, "If we're gonna make this work
You gotta let me inside, even though it hurts"
Don't hide the broken parts that I need to see
She said, "Like it or not, it's the way it's gotta be

You gotta love yourself if you can ever love me"
I'll do whatever it takes To turn this around
I know what's at stake
I know that I've let you down

And if you give me a chance
And give me a break
I'll keep us together
I know you deserve much better

Remember the time I told you the way that I felt
And that I'd be lost without you and never find myself
Let's hold onto each other above everything else
Start over, start over

I'll do whatever it takes
To turn this around
I know what's at stake
I know that I've let you down

And if you give me a chance
Believe it, I can change
I'll keep us together
Whatever it takes

Broken
Lifehouse

The broken clock is a comfort, it helps me sleep tonight
Maybe it can stop tomorrow from stealing all my time
I am here still waiting though i still have my doubts
I am damaged at best, like you've already figured out

I'm falling apart, I'm barely breathing
With a broken heart that's still beating
In the pain, there is healing
In your name I find meaning
So I'm holdin' on, I'm holdin' on, I'm holdin' on
I'm barely holdin' on to you

The broken locks were a warning you got inside my head
I tried my best to be guarded, I'm an open book instead
I still see your reflection inside of my eyes
That are looking for a purpose, they're still looking for life

I'm falling apart, I'm barely breathing
with a broken heart that's still beating
In the pain (in the pain), is there healing
In your name (in your name) I find meaning
So I'm holdin' on (I'm still holdin'), I'm holdin' on (I'm still holdin'), I'm holdin' on (I'm still holdin')
I'm barely holdin' on to you

I'm hangin' on another day
Just to see what you throw my way
And I'm hanging on to the words you say
You said that I will be OK

The broken lights on the freeway left me here alone
I may have lost my way now, haven't forgotten my way home

I'm falling apart, I'm barely breathing
with a broken heart that's still beating
In the pain(In the pain) there is healing
In your name I find meaning
So I'm holdin' on (I'm still holdin'), I'm holdin' on (I'm still holdin'), I'm holdin' on (I'm still holdin'),
I'm barely holdin' on to you

I'm holdin' on (I'm still holdin'), I'm holdin' on (I'm still holdin'), I'm holdin' on (I'm still holdin'),
I'm barely holdin' on to you

These two songs were popular right around my dday - in fact, the morning of my first dday, Broken came on my Pandora Radio right as my H came in the door from his work trip to tell me he cheated...how crazy is that?

They are both bittersweet for me - I do love the words but they can make me think back to that time in October, 2009 - though I don't trigger as bad as I used to.

Music has been a major source of comfort for me post A. I am glad you enjoy them as well.

Also - I love Lifehouse immensely. If you enjoy those two songs, then listen to their song called - All That I Am Asking For....beautiful!

All That I am Asking For

Gravity pulls and
We fall from the clouds
We prove to each other
That we're both human now
The time that we spent
Trying to make sense
Of it all

All that I'm asking for
Is that you need nothing more
And nothing comes in between
Our love and it's fragile, see
All that I'm asking for
You're all that I'm asking for

Now we walk together
Knowing where we've been
Knowing mistakes are being mistaken again
It's in the past tense
There is no making sense of it now

All that I'm asking for
Is that you need nothing more
And nothing comes in between
Our love and it's fragile, see

All that I'm asking for
You're all that I'm asking for

In the still of your hands
Anything can happen now
With every beat of my heart
Love speaks in silence

In the still of your hands
Anything is possible
With every beat of my heart

The time that we spent
Trying to make sense, of it all

All that I'm asking for
Is that you need nothing more
And nothing comes in between
Our love and it's fragile, see

All I'm asking for
Is that you need nothing more
And nothing comes in between
Our love and it's fragile, see

All that I'm asking for
You're all that I'm asking for

No trigger - I swear. I am over 3.5 years out - I don't trigger like I use to. Like I said - music is therapy for me. Both of those songs are on my iPod...all good!

My husband and I say them way back in 2001 when we were dating. Thanks for the walk down memory lane.

I love Lifehouse. And if you like the songs above, my husband said that whenever he heard Hoobastank's "The Reason", he thought of me.

Different genre but have you listened to the song Hard to Love by Lee Brice? This song related to WH and I a lot. Especially in the chorus, he tells his wife, "I couldn't do it if I stood where you stood." It is so hard to be the BS and truthfully, if my WH had to spend a day in my shoes and deal, himself, with everything he put me through, I don't think he could do it. He is a very blessed man to still have me in his life. Anyway, you should check out that song, too.

That's a beautiful song kourt090. Thanks for sharing

I'm glad some of you have enjoyed the songs we have shared. It's amazing how we can hear the same songs for years but all of a sudden they can take on new meanings for us based on experiences we have.

Everyone--thanks for posting these songs!! Music is a great therapy for me and I'm sure it is for others. R is so important and it's nice to just sit and think to great songs like those. Thanks!!

After DDay we had made play lists for each other. I had both Whatever it Takes and The reason on mine.

A couple of other great songs are "I Will Be" by Leona Lewis and "Don't Give Up on Us" by Sara McLachlin.
