The kids got measured and weighed today-

Daughter aged 4yrs- 33inches and weighs 2 stone (28lbs)

Son aged 3yrs- 34 inches and just under 2 1/2 stone (33lbs)

My daughter is quite 'petite' whereas my son's a bit more solid ha

I'm 6ft5 and 15 stone (210lbs) and the Mrs is about 5ft6 and 7.5 stone (105lbs) if that makes a difference!!!

The nursery said they're fine but I've been trying to Google averages but it's been awkward. They both eat well and healthily which I know is the main thing- I'm more curious than anything!!

Edited to add- it's actually quite embarrassing that I weigh twice as much as the wife- I'm not fat! haha maybe my son will be like me and daughter like her Mummy!!

I don't see any problem. Looks like your son will be tall like you.

Why are you embarrassed? You are height/weight proportioned. Your wife sounds very thin with hers.

Looks normal to me.

My kids have similar dynamics.

My daughter (19yrs) is baaarely 5ft 1in tall.

My son (17yrs) is already 6ft tall and still growing. His shoe bill makes me want to cry, lol.

The men in my family are typically tall and lean or short and round. DS is going the tall and lean route.

The women in my family are "shorties".

I don't see anything to be concerned about. There's a difference of more than a foot between my sister's kids. Her oldest is 6'3" snd her DD is 4'9" . She herself tops out at 5'2". But I agree, your W is a bit on the light side. At her height, she should weigh in the neighborhood of 140 - 145. (or about 10 stone if you prefer).

The important thing *is* that they're eating healthy. A lot of people seem to forget that genetics *do* play a role, even if it skips a generation or two.

They definitely eat well and are full of beans

Oh I know she's skinny her whole family's the same even her Dad- bean pole!

I think it's tricky with your own kids- if I think of a 3/4 year old I think of my little ones. Anyone smaller are short and taller are tall- if that makes sense!!

My Dad is around my height and my Mum is around 5'8.

I don't mind who they take after- it's exciting watching them grow

You can't tell from their size so young. My boy was off the charts light -- no percentiles low enough! He's as tall as me now and on his way to overtopping his dad.

As long as they're eating well, active, and otherwise healthy, I would not worry about it.

I wouldn't be concerned if they eat well, are active. If you are concerned speak to your doctor. Boys are generally taller and heavier then girls.

My oldest son has always been extremely tall (even from birth at almost 23 inches). He is now just turned 14 years old and 5ft 11 and wearing size 13 shoes! My youngest son is short and stocky build like his dad. Both myself and my xwh are both short so no idea where our oldest gets his height from lol.

My wh picked up a McQueen electric car for DS. He said their son was two years old and 40lbs!!! They decided to give the car away because their son was to big for it. He wasn't fat just built like a house lol

Our son is two and is 24/25lbs.

My daughter is four years old and very tiny...always below the charts. She's only 26lbs and 34" tall. My kids are mistaken for twins all the time.

Of course my daughter has eating issues (among others). My son on the other hand eats like a horse.

Wh is only 5'7" I think and I'm only 4'9" so we know genetics plays a huge role. We head back to the genetics clinic this week to see if our daughters tests have any results. They suspect a form of dwarfism.

Since dd was born I have stressed about her growth. Now though I am not. He's tiny. Whatever the reason. Overall she's healthy and has more energy than the Energizer Bunny so I'm not to worried.

Your little girl is quite petite! My daughter is 3.5 and on the small side weight-wise at 29 pounds. I believe the last time she was measured at the pediatrician's office she was 38.5 inches. I could be wrong, but I'm almost positive that was the number.

The pedi said that if she stays on her current growth curve, she'll be 5'4" and weigh 105 as an adult. To that I LOL. I'm 5'7" (and not about to share my weight, haha) and my husband is 6'7" - BUT, he was on the short side of average until he hit high school. You just never know.

My niece's doctor always said she'd be over 6' based on her growth curve. She hit 5'7" by 8th grade and stopped (she's almost 18 now).

Yeah I doubt you can tell so young- I wasn't the tallest in my class until I was 15/16!!

My little girl is probably the shortest in her nursery class but she's quite narrow whereas my son is more beefy with chunky hands and feet!!

I did this online calculator and it said by the age of 18 my daughter will be 4'11" and my son 5'2"- haha I can't see that!

The other thing was- I measured everyone myself over the weekend- I had a tape measure and scales and I wasn't afraid to use them! Daughter was 2'11" and 30lbs, my son 3'1" and just under 35lbs. My wife didn't escape me either- she was just over 5'6 and 110lbs- she is pregnant though!!

I weighed some friends and other family members too but I think it was only interesting to me at the time!!! Oh and I weighed/measured the dog haha- obsessed!!!

If they're happy, healthy, eating, and growing don't be concerned I have one DS (12 1/2) who is Do3K Jr...they look alike, they act alike and they are both tall and thin. DS9 is built more like a Haus...seriously, there is only about 4" and 10lbs between the boys. DD7 is built just like me when I was little...she is PETITE! She JUST broke the 35lb mark at Christmas time and is just over 3ft All three of my kids eat, are happy and healthy so I don't worry much about it.

Kids grow at different rates, so I would not be too concerned

My son is more my shape but both kids look like my wife to be honest except my boy has blue eyes like me- I think he also has the same taste in women- my wife had a marriage proposal on Sunday:

Son: "Will you marry me Mummy when I'm big?"

Wife: "I'm already married to Daddy- and- I'm your Mummy"

Son: "Daddy can marry someone else"

Me: "Thanks mate!!"

Wife: "You can't marry your Mummy but I'll find you a nice girl when you're a young man"

Son: "I'll just stay here with you Mummy I don't like marrying"

Wife: "And Daddy?"

Son: "Yes he can stay here"

We've made a Mummy's Boy!!!!!

It's OK though because when this was going on my little girl was putting ribbons in my hair

My two youngest kids were about the shortest in their class all through school, and in the bottom 5th percentile for height for their ages. My daughter grew to about 5' 2 1/2" which is short but in a very "normal" range of short, and about one inch shorter than me.

My son did not get his growth spurt until after he got out of high school at age 18. It was strange. He grew about a foot and is a very average 5' 10" now, about the same height as his father. I think there is some correlation and possibility to predict adult heights based on childhood heights but I believe my own children have proven to be exceptions.

Neither. They are both perfect.
