This is for all of you that are just starting out in this horrible process. Don't stop interviewing attorneys until you find the right one for you.

*I'm editing this post because I had a couple people send me messages with questions about it.*

The difference between this attorney and the other attorneys I interviewed (4 total)was that this one talked about ME. The others said 'we are a community property state, everything is split 50/50. We can try to get you spousal, we can try this and try that but...the law.'

The one that I hired said to me that my stbx arsehole 'might have walked away from his marriage, but he cannot walk away from his responsibilities.'and what we are going to need to prove is .....'

The law was NOT the main topic of conversation - I WAS! Our daughter WAS.

Will the end result be any different? I can't answer that BUT what I can answer is that this attorney has taken the time to get to know me, has my best interests at heart and is fighting to get me what he believes I am entitled to.

He meets each and every one of the arsehole's attorney's stupid demands with an answer that turns the tables back to my stbx.

To some it up -

they all have the title of Attorney. Find the one that has a heart along with that title. Someone that will treat you as a person who deserves to be heard, and not just another divorce case.

Do not settle. This is the most important decision you are going to make for your future, and the future of your kids - if you have them.

I totally agree. I went with the second atty I talked to, and I had to change because they screwed up and let a conflict happen (someone talked to my husband after I had retained them). I liked my first atty, but the ones I have now are better for me. (I have 2.)
