Hi all,

I just quit smoking after 40 years (Again lol). Everything else in my life is changing for the good so I figured it was about time to try again.

Never done this here but I'm asking for all the Mojo you can spare... Plus crossed fingers/toes and prayers wouldn't hurt either.

Thanks in advance. I'll try to update and give you all progress reports.

Mojo sent! I quit a month ago after smoking for 18 (since I was 13 years old!) and if you can make it through the first week, you'll be golden. It helped me to have a plan for my cravings (usually pushups) which I still have to activate every once in a while.

You can do it!

Hi Panic Attack 53

You can do this. OK we're midway through May.

Whenever you get paid, take the $ you'd spend on ciggs and put it back. At Christmastime go get yourself something nice

Thanks h0peless & JKLV! Much appreciated. I've actually got an extra incentive this time. I'm dating a woman and she has Asthma. Told me she was done unless I quit. I really like her sooooooo

One more SI'er rooting for you!

You can do this.

White knuckle it through the first week, then it is gravy.

Update:

Day two and I'm dying here lol. I haven't given in yet though and I'm hanging in there (albeit by a thread).

I'm also eating like a horse. I hope I don't wind up weighing 500lbs when this is over.

Thanks again for the encouragement and Mojo sent my way. It really does help!

You CAN do it!!!

I quit smoking about 12 years ago, but I had smoked for over 30 years.

It is hard, but I'm sending you tons of mojo!!! Are you using patches or anything to help you?

My mother recently quit after 65 years... she had to for medical reasons and really didn't have a choice in the matter but she did it.

Thanks again everyone! I really can feel the strength and good wishes coming my way and it does fuel me to stay on course.

Are you using patches or anything to help you?

I'm actually using ecigs that have a step down nicotine feature. I used this when I quit for 7 months back in June 2011 when I had my hip replacement surgery.

If you can do it, than I know I can do it. Good luck.

Awesome FwL, now that is real incentive for me to stay on course. I promise to do my best for me & you.

Update: Day Three

^*$#!*^&*@! OK, now that I got that out of my system lol. Seriously, I'm still on the wagon folks and I think I'm doing pretty well all considered.

BTW, wanna know another cool tidbit about doing this again now? STBX isn't here to give me shit while I try! Good lord I'm loving life now!

Anyway, today was the first day I noticed a huge improvement in my breathing. I did my Yoga class today and not once was I out of breath. How cool is that!? Is that even possible after only 3 days?

More to come tomorrow...

ETA: Thanks cd & NIK!

Update: Day Five

Sorry for not updating for a couple days. I'm still smoke free and this is starting to get easier. Spent Fri & Sat with my GF and that helped a lot lol. Don't think about much else but her when I'm with her. I'll take "Relationship High" over "Nicotine High" any day!

Two more days to a full week!!

I quit two weeks ago, after being told that the biopsy on the white spot on my tongue showed cancer. Thankfully, the biopsy removed everything so there's no further treatment at this point, just A LOT of follow-up and monitoring...

I am using e-cigs as well, and at two weeks out doing very well with it.

If you're still struggling even with an e-cig, consider upping your nic level in the liquid- I did and that made the difference for me.

E-cigs are the greatest invention ever, they make it soooo much easier to quit.
