Younger son's birthday was not long ago, and he celebrated with his dad, etc last weekend. DS18 came home with the leftover bday cake, and when I asked, told me "she" (aka his dad's gf/the OW) made it for him. He also said the cake I had made him was better.
So I'm at the grocery store during my lunch hour today, and in the bakery display are "fancy cakes" that are the exact size as the cake ds18 brought home. Same diameter, same number of layers. The only thing different was that the frosting looked like a bakery cake should.
And now I'm lol-ing thinking that she might be trying to pass off a store-bought cake as homemade. Given everything else she's done, why wouldn't she lie about making homemade cakes, too?

despite the fact that the cake was 6" in diameter with 4 layers, and I've been told gf/ow doesn't cook well, I was prepared to give her the benefit of the doubt...that is, until I saw those cakes at the grocery store.

Wait, are you saying she re-frosted it?

probably not re-frosted, but maybe made the frosting look not so perfect, so it'd look more homemade.
but who knows? maybe she really is a secret gourmet cake baker, who just happens to have a set of four 6" cake pans...

The 'loving hands at home' look
At least she's mastered that

She hasn't 'mastered' the baked at home look, her dumb ass probably left it in the car. Don't give this 'crafty' broad too much credit.
Oh how funny - we've had some doosies of 'homemade' mom cakes that sucked and I told it proudly! That's what a real mom does. I'm not a baker so there!
