Our basement has accumulated a LOT of junk over the years, I keep dreaming of clearing out the trash and organizing the stuff we want/need to keep (tools all over the place, etc).
Well I have FINALLY gotten enough energy to tackle the job, spurred on by trying to convert part of the basement to a weights room for the boys. Which means clearing some space!
So to give myself that extra kick in the butt that I needed, my youngest son and I already bought a bunch of weights (a few hundred kilos worth) last week. They need to stay in the car until their new 'home' is ready.
Operation clearout has progressed quite nicely, to the point where I just need to have the boys vacuum and move a few more things out of the way. With any luck, that will get done tomorrow and then they can bring in the weights. Yay!!
As for the stuff we're 'losing': 5 moving boxes to donate, 3 giant (110 liter) trash bags of trash. Wow, the amount of space freed up is huge.
Next project, operation organize photos......

I am Jealous. I need to rent a dumpster, and "clean out" our basement. We have so much junk it's unreal, and now we are trying to build a honey room for extracting and bottling honey. We are running out of space!!! Unfortunately my H is on verge of being a hoarder. so the stacks get rearranged, and shuffled about. It's kinda like a giant Jenga puzzle.

My daughter refers to the moving piles again and again as "shifting dunes". And I am guilty of it. She is an interior designer with the "less is more" attitude.
I too am facing getting rid of crap over the next year...thank you kijiji.
