At the Atlanta G2G in April a few of us floated the idea of having a get together and doing something on the water on Lake Lanier. So I picked up a brochure and got some prices.

Is anyone interested in renting a pontoon cruiser or party yacht some Saturday in August or September?

This is what I am thinking.

We rent the boat and split the cost of the rental evenly. Everyone brings drinks and food enough for themselves plus 2 more (rule of thumb we use for sailing cruises).

If we get 4 people or less we will go out on my sailboat Catalina 22 - small and slow but it can be fun.

5 - 10 people and we will rent a 32' MegaCruiser

The cost is $379 for 4 hours or $529 for 8 hours. Capable of holding up to 18 people max if a few people show up at the last minute.

If we get more than 10 people then I suggest we upgrade to the 35' Party Yacht.

$399 for 4 hours or $549 for the full day ( only a few dollars more than the 32 footer). This boat can hold up to 26 of us. That would be a hell of a party.

So what do you all think? Anyone interested in some fun on the water to round out the summer?

I can call and find out what weekends the boats are available. From what I have seen on the lake, I do not get the impression that these boats are used too often but I may be wrong.

Will there be margaritas???

gahurts posted 6/27/2013 08:07 AM

Sure! If you know how to mix them. I'll probably bring some watermelon juice and rum.

That sounds like so much fun! I can't commit at this point, by I will try.

Can I bring guests? DS & DIL live 5 minutes away

Will there be shenanigans and hijinks?

gahurts posted 6/27/2013 09:58 AM

I don't see any reason not to bring guests. This should be a fun time for all, shenanigans included.

I'll probably bring some watermelon juice and rum.

Or just pour the rum into a watermelon...

.and wed be just another Lake Lanier story for Jovita Moore to report.

I can just see the headlines: "Another Lake Lanier boating accident...this time it's an infidelity group. Lurid details at 11".

But it does sound fun!!

The first DC g2g I went to, the waitress asked us how we all knew each other, because we were having SO much fun. We exchanged glances and were like..... "Uh...we're all divorced!"

SI has the most entertaining g2gs.

Ah hell Kuwaited. You're gonna scare everyone away.

We can find a hidden cove somewhere before we start pushing everyone overboard into the water.

I love you people, but you lost me at "Lake."

What rhymes with lake? Snake.

gahurts posted 6/27/2013 21:24 PM

There aren't going to be any snakes on the boat! Not if I have anything to say about it.

ETA: Abby Cadabby has agreed to be out vermin extermination officer of the deck! She's got it under control.

Well...it's not the lake...it's the people.

Stoopid people.

We aren't stoopid.

I've never been to a GTG that made the news....so we're good!!

gahurts posted 6/27/2013 21:29 PM

Stoopid people.... in very fast boats.... with alcohol... and no on the water experience.

These pontoons probably go a whopping 5 MPH. "Party in slow motion!"

Kuwaited posted 6/27/2013 21:30 PM

Oh...come on Mad!!!

Unless you plan on roaming the shores of Lanier...you're not likely to encounter a snake.

....of course you do have a tendency of falling on your ass. So we should hope for smooth sailing.

How did I get volunteered for vermin control? I will be too busy sipping margaritas to control vermin... unless I take a break to toss a rat overboard for volunteering me!

Sounds like the shenanigans have begun.

gahurts posted 6/28/2013 09:15 AM

If I go overboard, you're coming with me.

gahurts posted 6/28/2013 09:28 AM

Come on folks! It's only a simple 3 hour tour!
