I've not been feeling well and DD has been searching for ways to help me feel better.
I told her just taking care of the pets helps me tremendously.
I woke up today and Waywardson informed me that she had made me a chocolate drink.
He said the first thing he noticed was a sprig of fresh Rosemary floating in it.
He sipped it, gasped, and asked, "Did you put SALT in this?"
Yep.
Also, she put Chinese Five Spice and "A whole bunch of other stuff", according to her.
Waywardson said he had shooting pains in his stomach. Poor guy, he's far braver than I.
My stomach feels fine.

She may have more of a chemistry future than a culinary one...

Now I'm going to have nightmares of her in a chemistry lab just mixing all kinds of stuff together to "see what happens".

In my house we call a concoction like that the "Garden of Gross". My SO introduced my then 7 and 4 year olds to it one day when I ran out for a few minutes to run an errand. They mixed everything they could find that was technically edible into a "special" drink for me.

Ick. Garden of Gross, eh? I think I'll pass!
I just told her that she needs to practice using recipes other people have written and can be more creative once she's more familiar with how flavors interact. AND SHE needs to be able to eat it and feel like it's good before I'll touch it. (because she's a very picky eater, believe it or not!)
I also asked her to please never make me barf, because I HATE that.

To give you confidence that her cooking future isn't completely in jeopardy...when I was seven or so I made "Kool-Aid"...only it was Kool-Aid with a bunch of other stuff (weird spices and such) in it and it was absolutely disgusting. Now, I love to cook and I'm really good at it

Thanks, (((Mama))), I'm feeling a little better today.
I'm sure she'll be a fine cook- with some practice.
I think the problem is that her dad is a chef (well, now he's a restaurant manager, but he spent years as a chef). Since that was his job, he didn't want to do that stuff at home, so I had to learn to cook. After some time, I discovered that I was pretty darned good at it, too. I bombed a lot while I was learning, but she didn't see all of that. She just sees two parents who are able to step into the kitchen and make something awesome.
We both talked to her about our experiences learning to cook and told her that we had a lot of bombs and still have occasional bombs because it's just part of the process.
I think she's backed-up to just wanting to learn to make smoothies, for now.
