Feeling a Little Sorry For Myself

So today is my birthday. I was happy to see that I was wished a Happy Birthday in the Fun and Games forum! That brightened my morning!

I'm not one to announce my birthday. So really it makes no sense that I'm feeling sorry for myself. Without mentioning it is my birthday I asked a group of friends who get together most Friday evening, if we were meeting this week, turns out everyone has plans. Even if they didn't know I was still looking forward to being with friends.

With my girls all living out of state I won't be with them. Checked the mail and not a single birthday card! I did get a wish from a CC and my auto insurance company!

Last year I was with my mom for my birthday the only time in my adult life I spent my birthday with my mother. Turned out to be the last time it would ever happen.

It was after I went home that my world feel apart. I then went on to have the worst year of my entire life, bar none.

So I have decided that I will take myself out to a movie and dinner. And wish myself my own Happy Birthday! And I dream about the plans I have for a having a better year this year.

ETA: I should mention that I wouldn't have made it through this year without some of the most amazing friends that have surrounded me with love friendship and concern!

I'm sorry, hon. Summer is a tricky time to get people together - -we're all running in so many directions.

I hope that you treat yourself to something nice today - we ALL deserve that.

Happy birthday!
I go to the movies by myself and quite enjoy it. I think it's great that you will use the day as a jumping off point, visualizing your new life.

BTW, I'm a photography buff as well. I love catching moments.

Checked the mail and not a single birthday card!

Birthday cards may become extinct due to the electronic age, so I wouldn't take it personally.

Have a Happy, joyous birthday.

Happy birthday to you! And kudos for spoiling yourself a bit with dinner and a movie. If I lived near you I would totally hang with you. Instead, I'll have a drink and toast to you - here's to a new beginning over this next year - all the best Elaine!

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes and the toasts!

SadinAz I like the idea of the annual tradition. Even the month long celebration would be fun.

One of the best things about the movie by myself I didn't have to share my popcorn. And I liked the movie.

gypsybird87 I'm finding this to be so true! I'm have discovered it can be about me for now. I really am getting better at cheering for myself.
