I have a yahoo account. It's my name @yahoo.com

I have this set up in my phone...

I get a daily newsletter sent to it, have for years.

So it seemed a good idea to use it on DD's birthday party invitations...ya NOT!

Here's the problem. I sent an email to that account from my hotmail to check that it worked (should have done this before I sent the invitations duh!).

It came back undeliverable. What!!!

Here's where I am so confused I am about to delete the account:

The newsletter is addressed to "yahoo.ca" not ".com". Yet on my phone the account is set up for .com not .ca AND it works. It also has an eight diget password that for the life of me I cannot remember.

So I tried the following:

1. Set up a yahoo.com account with my name. It said it was already used. (of course it is, it's my email)

2. I tried to log into the yahoo account using .ca and it said my password was wrong so I reset it using my alternate email. I set it to a NINE diget PW!!!

Still with me?

On my phone I didn't change anything!!! I then sent myself an email to yahoo.ca and it showed up in the yahoo.com account.

How is this possible???

It still has an eight diget password and it's a .com account... I am baffled. I mean just baffled!!!!!!!!!

In panic mode I emailed DD's teacher asking if she could forward an email asking all the parents to use my alternate email (that I use here). She responded that she would (relief!!!). I did provide my phone number so they could reach me that way.

Does anyone have any ideas about what's going on with the .com vs .ca thing?

When I tried to add a new account to my phone with the .ca and new password it wouldn't verify the account...

ca = Canada

I have this 'problem' at work; I'm in Houston, but my computer is set up for Ottawa. Drives me crazy.

Aren't .com and .ca different emails?

For example would Dragnheart @yahoo.com be different than Dragnheart @yahoo.ca? So two people could use the same name before the @sign?

I'll admit I totally suck at remembering passwords (and names). That's why I have all of my hotmail accounts linked, so I could switch between them and not have to figure out what password went with which one... Outlook has taken over hotmail and I just got an email to all of my hotmails that account linking is being discontinued for security reasons. Ugh!

Luckily I have all my accounts listed on my old phone with their passwords.

And yes I know it's weird to have a lot of emails...

I just don't understand how I could set up the yahoo account on my phone under .com yet not be able to send email to that address unless it's .ca.
