Do3K has been working SO much lately; one full time job where he's working a minimum of 45 hours a week (usually closer to 55-60) and a part time job (usually 10-15 hours/week). Additionally, he is still in charge of the outdoor maintenance at church (he has guys working under him, doing mowing and such but he's still responsible for making sure it's done and the major maintenance items). Today he asked if he could get a new guitar pedal (not a need but a want b/c he's on the Praise Team, at church). I had to tell him no, because we can't be spending any extra money right now. *sigh* I feel like a horrible wife, because he's working so hard, but we HAVE to stick to the budget (esp this week...too much is due for us not to).
Geesh, pedal not peddle...I cannot concentrate for anything today

I'm sending out a prayer that this need is met.
Hugs,

Thank you...it's very appreciated! Usually I have no problem telling him, "No, we can't afford it right now," but this time it was especially hard b/c he's working like crazy

Can you afford to start a fund for his pedal. $5 to $10 a pay period? That way there is hope for him and maybe not breaking the bank

It seems to me if it is for the Praise Team and you guys don't have the money the church could shell out a little money for it. That IS what other Christians are supposed to be there for.

Moo, I like that idea! It's not going to be the exact one he was wanting, but it may be one like it! He's having to learn about delaying what he wants for what we need...that's been hard for him.
PJ, He has a pedal and it was his decision to be on the team, so we buy all of the equipment (that he gets to keep, if he ever decides to step down). He actually has a really nice pedal and another pedal board...it's not like he's lacking
I just wish we could afford to do it now, since he's been working so hard. But, I think I'll mention what Moo suggested so he can still get what he would like; it may just take longer than he would like.

It totally sucks to work so hard and STILL not be able to afford a few luxuries!
Can he get the pedal secondhand? I don't know much about guitar pedals so maybe they need to be new, but if you look on eBay or a local flea market or the classifieds....maybe he could get one a bit cheaper and that would mean quicker... ?

That's the plan, I think, NA. The one he would *really* like to have is about $200 new and really hard to find used (they hold up well and people like them, so they continue to use them until they die). One part that makes this harder is rather than his Cola splurges, he has been really good about not spending money, unless he needs to. He still has a way to go with budgeting and doing bills, but at least he is improving.
