A number of years ago I gave my half a pack of cigarettes to a good fellow smoker friend of mind. I did it because I decided for the gazillionth time to quit. For some reason this was the time that it worked and I never had another one.
A few minutes ago I heard that this friend who smoked the rest of that pack and kept right on smoking just died of a smoking related health issue.
I am not asking for the obligatory hugs or I'm sorry for your loss etc. I just want to say this...for your family and friends...
If you are struggling with it, do not give up, keep trying and give those (pardon the Language but this is what they are) mother fuckers up...please.
I've wiped the shit off. It can be wiped off you know.

That's a very powerful message, asurvivor. And even though you aren't looking for it, you have my condolences on the loss of your friend.
You can call me NIK

I know you didn't ask for hugs, but you're getting them anyway
(((asurvivor)))
Do3K was a smoker and dipped from the time he was 16, until he was 28. He tried quitting many times, but like you it was like something just changed for him and he was able to. It is a hard habit to quit, but it can be done.

As we all know, I quit on May 6th when the oral surgeon told me I had cancer on my tongue
And that was one week before my 50th birthday!!
I NEVER thought that would happen to me, I convinced myself that it wouldn't. But it DID happen to me. Thank God it was the "best bad news I could get" (according to the oral surgeon) because it was treatable with just surgery and then a crapload of monitoring. I go back to see him on August 5th for my first follow-up check. If anything happens, we will be on top of it now...
Yes people, PLEASE quit if you can. I cannot recommend e-cigs enough- they helped me quit and I was a hard-core smoker.
PM me if you're thinking of trying an e-cig and you need some info.

To smokers-
I quit smoking at least 10 times from 2001-2003. Started again in 2009 and finally quit. Yes, you read that right. I would quit months in between and then years and now for forever. (never say never-but the thought of smoking makes me want to puke)
It would have been less of a hell to never start again-but why stop when you've having fun,
Anyway-just because you smoke again-doesn't mean you have to start again.
Don't smoke today. If you get a craving, wait ten minutes.
