...moments after a parade, in my hometown. I have family and friends who were at the parade; we only missed b/c both DS and I aren't feeling well. No one will answer my texts, but I have seen a few (unrelated) FB posts, so I think everyone is okay. I just wish they would answer my stinking text messages

Thank you, NIK. This is a very small town, so it is a miracle how everything worked together...had the collapse happened earlier there could have been serious injuries as the parade would have been going on. Had this been a normal day, when the 4th festivities were not going on, there would have been semi's going down that road (it's on a major highway) and emergency workers would not have been able to react so quickly. So thankful it wasn't worse!

I saw on the news this morning they were afraid that the rest of the building would collapse, so they tore it completely down, overnight. It's sad that an old building is gone, but it needed to be done to keep it from posing a risk to others.

MO3K---glad you're family is ok. My inlaws from Montpelier were at the parade too. They were about 25-50 yds away at collapse time. They said it was very scary but were unhurt. We have other family that was there from Bluff... area too but not sure how close they were. Just glad everyone is ok.
