And if you live in a rural area... don't pee on the fence - they are usually electrified.

Chances are if a guy has the nickname 'Sparky' you know what he did as a kid!

Natural selection at it's finest...

I feel awful for his family.

I hope the friend pulls through. Really can't quite fathom why people don't have a heavier dose of caution around trains/tracks. Perhaps knowing your limits with alcohol is the real lesson to be learned.

Yeah, I'm sure we've all done stupid things after drinking too much. For this poor guy it was fatal. I'm also thinking about his family.

I must be an awful person, because I am thinking of Ren & Stimpy.

I hope the friend survives. What a crazy way to die. His poor family.

I believe the Myth Busters did a program on this!
I found the title of the show on the web, but was unable to get the result. As far as I remember, it was impossible to produce the effect with a normal stream, but that standing in a puddle that touched the live rail would certainly have an electrifying result.

I saw that as well.

Color me awful, too, because I had the jingle in my head before I even saw your picture.

But how!? Union and Broadway in Brooklyn is where the connection to the J train is. J train is upstairs and G train underground. As far as I can remember these aren't open tracks so what did he do? Climb down into the tracks? Why would you let your friend climb onto the tracks...I'm sorry I do feel bad for this guy, just trying to make sense of it.

gahurts posted 7/9/2013 09:13 AM

It looks like they were walking along the tracks. I wonder if he was standing on one of the tracks and peed on the 3rd rail. That would certainly set up a complete circuit.

I am always afraid to walk along the tracks. I have a fear that my foot will get stuck in between some railroad ties and a train will start coming.
