When it rains, it pours you know? My H left yesterday morning to work out of town. He'll be gone for a week. I had a sterilization procedure done at the dr's office yesterday morning. Thankfully a very non-invasive one with minimal recovery. We have a window unit ac in our bedroom. It's been humid for us lately and this particular model fills up with water when that happens. My H, drilled a drainage hole before he left. Unfortunately, instead of dripping into the pan, the water runs down the side of the wall and turned the carpet into a marsh. Fabulous. Turn that cooler off, think of a way to fix it, spend time in the living room where the roof-mount swamp cooler keeps everything comfortable. Lay the boys down for naps and notice it's getting warm. Check the thermostat. 82* in my house. Check the swamp cooler - blowing warm air. Check water line - still connected and running. Turn switch to pump only and listen. Nothing. Yup. Pump is burned up. Apply temporary fix to the window unit in bedroom. Not leaking for now. Resign myself to the fact that two small boys and I will be spending almost all of the next week in the bedroom since I cannot climb on the roof to fix it and we can't afford a plumber. *sigh*.

Oy... Sorry for your current cooling issues.

We will be fine. My SIL's BF is going to swing by and replace the pump between his sister's baby shower and his nephew's bday party. Just seems like everything goes wrong when he is gone. The heater quits. The pilot on the hot water heater goes out. The ac breaks (last summer too). The water line freezes. My FIL tries to help, but he had an accident a while back and can't stand for long. Ladders are definitely out. I guess I just need to learn to be more mechnically inclined.

Ugh, I so understand that domino effect thing. Hope your SIL's BF was able to fix it for you.
