Amazonia's Visit to The WoodlandsTexas

After my brother's wedding in Chicago, I'm planning to visit Ft. Worth, Texas. It'll be the first time I've ever been to Texas! (I'm a little intimidated, to be honest. Texans can be a little intense!)

The friend I'm staying with has offered to drive down toward The Woodlands (where is that? Houston? I'm lousy at geography) on Sept. 5th (Thurs).

Any interest? I'd love to put some of your lovely faces with your lovely screennames.

Well, dayum; I'll be in NY by then.

There are some famous people in the Woodlands (wink-wink) It's just north of Houston and considered part of the greater Houston area.

Have fun!

I almost posted on your Chicago thread. If the job I interviewed for last week doesn't come through, I've got vacation time I have to take in August or I lose it. If I take it, I'll be heading to Illinois, and was going to see if SO wanted to do a weekend in Chicago.

But, depending on the job situation, tentatively count me in for Texas, either to head up to FW or meet up with you somewhere in between there and Houston.

If you come down to The Woodlands (About 30 miles north of Houston) we'll make sure you have a good time

Other than that...enjoy Fort Worth, tons of things to do there too!!!!!

That's a week that I can't miss work, otherwise I would love to drive up to Ft Worth and meet up!

The Stockyards in Fort Worth are a lot of fun.

You need to make it down to Austin sometime Ama, you would really love it.

Amazonia has confirmed she'll be here in The Woodlands on Sept 5-6...so I think it's only appropriate we have a little party for her.

Who's interested?

If we're talking the evening of Sept 5, I will head up after work. Depending on SO's schedule, I may have to stop at the airport on the way and pick him up first, though. I'll check with him. We haven't planned that far in advance yet, and he may not know his work schedule for then yet, either.

If we're talking Friday evening, same thing. I'll head up after work.

If we're talking other times during the day on either the 5th or 6th, let me know the times, and I'll see what I can do. If I'm still at my current job, I've got no problems taking a day off to meet up for lunch or something.

Thursday afternoon/evening and Friday early brunch.

I fly home to DC on Friday afternoon, from DFW, so we'll just need to be sober enough to leave by 11 or so.

ETA: Sad, I'm *just* missing you. We'll have to get together on the east coast sometime, because I am quite disappointed not to meet you.

I'm not worried about the heat. Heck, from what I hear, people in TX don't walk miles at a time to get from point A to point B, they just drive. So who cares if it's hot? I show up at work drenched in sweat every morning here in DC, can't get much worse than that on vacation, right?
