I just moved 1500 miles for a promotion. I got here and and literally on the day I arrived had a killer sore throat. Looked in the mirror - covered in spots on my tonsils. I thought "great, strep." I got my doc to call me in a scrip. Two weeks later, teh spots weren't gone and I was still kind of feeling "meh". I went to teh doc (figuring I needed a different antibiotic). The mono test was positive.
Uggghhh... So I'm past the worst part, but now I just get tired really fast and get bad headaches and general 'malaise' at the end of the night. I can't work out for at least another week and then it's only "light".
This really blows. I just moved to a new town (well, I went to college here so not entirely new) adn can't explore or hve fun or even meet up with my old friends for a while. It's lame.
Anyway, just venting.

Stress is stress--whether it's good or bad, it can still cause illness. Take care of yourself and don't push it. You'll be out and about soon.

I had a "viral infection" for over 3 weeks. They said it was like mono, could have been because the mono test was inconclusive. I ended up being hospitalized because I was so dehydrated from the constant low-grade fever, then the high fever spikes and sweating during the night.
So, my advice...take it easy and drink plenty of fluids!!!

Ugh. I am so sorry. My wh had mono when our first child was a year old. Got it from some college intern at work, lol. They shared a phone.
He was really sick for about a week, then sloooowly got better over about a month I think. Then, wouldn't you know it, he got shingles.
I feel for you. Hopefully you will feel better soon & be able to rock them at the new job!! Congrats!!!

Don't know how I got it. Maybe from my recent ex (you can be a carrier and asymptomatic). I've also been traveling a lot for work, restaurants and hotels are harbingers of disease.
This blows though

I got this in high school and not from kissing anyone (sadly). But it put me on my butt for 3 weeks. I lost 12 pounds in a week because the only thing i could swallow was liquid, and that was only after a good dose of oral lidocane to help with as much of the sore throat as possible.
The worst though was the chronic fatigue syndrome after that. It took me years to get back to a normal. The doctors said that consistant exercise with gradual intensity is the best way to get out of that tired 'funk'.
My great dane saved me - everday after school we would go on a walk, at first it was short, maybe 10 minutes, but they got longer and longer slowly.

I had it a few summers ago, had a sore throat for 35 days. 1st Dr said it was a virus never checked, 2nd Dr said Yep Mono. Then after that I was sick with something every month afterwards for 5 months.
I love my husband and kids, but there is something missing, LIKE MAYBE A LIFE!!!!!!!

That stinks royally. Make sure you don't push too hard, get lots of rest, and you will soon be on the mend.
I had pneumonia last fall when I started a new job, so I get feeling awful and having to deal with all the new stressors.

I've had it twice.
Once when I was 20, almost died from complications, almost lost my spleen did lose my tonsils.
The second time was about 7 years ago. Fatigue was horrible then but infection wasn't as bad.
