I know my neighbors a little bit but not super well. They are very nice but we just haven't spent any time with them.
One of my horses has decided that she doesn't feel that my fence is a necessary part of her life. She has found any number of ways to escape - over, under, through ect. My son calls me today -- he's on catch attempt #3 of loose horse.
Neighbor has some sturdier higher fencing available. and sets up a temporary holding pen for her. My friend is coming to pick her up and take her to a barn with high high fences tomorrow but that didn't help for tonight.
What kind of very very nice tihng can I do to show my appreciation to the neighbor for bailing me out of this pickle?
But that's just a lot of water

Ah, good neighbors are a blessing!
We live off in the country with good neighbors, where we have a little mutual admiration society built upon responses in times of need.
If I was in your place (w/my personality, sense of humor, budget...), I'd likely take a close-up of your horse's face, then make a card using the photo. I'd write a thank-you coming from the horse's perspective. ("Thank you for helping my family keep me safe from my impetuous decisions to wander...". With that I'd give something homemade/homegrown (cookies, bread, garden flowers, etc.) and a bottle of wine. If they don't have horses, maybe a horseshoe for luck?
Glad they were able to help you out, animals who like to escape can be a real pain in the butt (our eloper is a goat).

If you aren't sure what they drink maybe a giftcard for the liquor store? Oh wait.. you guys can buy your liquor anywhere can't you? It doesn't have to be a special store like here
Hmmm.. I think baked goods and beer. Just something to make their evening a nice one

What a nice neighbor. I think any gift you give would be fine, but these suggestions above are great. I would add some candy to it as well. You can't go wrong with sweets.

Love the cake!!!
I think these are all good ideas and I'm glad you have such good neighbors!
DS, you are forever in my heart. Thank you for sharing your beautiful spirit with me. I will always try to live by the example you have set. I love you and miss you every day and am sorry you had to go so soon, it just doesn't seem fair.

sad cat --
the funny part of the story is that my son woke up - she was out. he spent an hour catching her; put her back in and she immediately jumped back out while he was watching. He was so mad!
I think beer, baked goodies and amazon gift card are brilliant.

If you PM me details and a message, I can write a post-card to them from the horse and have it stamped here in Texas.
That's just my sense of humor, though.

If you bake that cake, is it terrible that I envision one of those pinterest "nailed it" comparisons in my head???
Please take a picture.
THAT is just my sense of humor...
eta: when I read that back it came across kinda bitchy. NOT how I meant it, but I don't know how to fix it.
