I am signing the papers on Friday.

What comes next?

I am feeling relief, a little nervous about this but mostly calm.

I can do this, right?

I don't know what I'm doing
but I know what I'm not doing

Yes, you can do this. 100%.

I'm not sure of the process in Illinois and a lot of depends onw hether the divorce is contested or uncontested, children involved, property, etc. Take it one step at a time.

Are you filing the complaint? You have a month-ish (28 days where I am) while you sit around and await the answer and/or counterclaims.

Waffle launched his surprise filing missile at the beginning of May, and we had our first pre-trial, about temp custody, originally scheduled for next week. Turns out his lawyer had a conflict and we're awaiting the reschedule.

If it is uncontested, and there's no hurdles in negotiating the settlement, it can be over quite quickly (in this state, three months or so). Some states have longer waiting periods. Mine is contested, so we're looking at next year before it's final.

You have totally got this!

BS-Me 30s
WS-Him 30s

D-Day 5/2012 (Did I say EA? Ummm..)
Numerous other TT/broken NC d-days until S 1/2013. D settled 11/2013

Yes I have filed first...

I'm hoping he doesn't contest it...

But he might not want to give up his money...
