Every year for the past 4 years (I'm guessing, I forget now) my ex-h has taken my boys camping. Where they go it has no cell service and its just a spot that is on a dirt road that you grab when you get there. There is no "specific" location. There is also no cell service. The first time he went, I was a wreck, wondering if they were ok. I've been to this spot when we were married several times, so I am familiar with it. What worries me is the big river that's next to it. It can be a strong current. I tell my ex everytime to please keep an eye on them, even though they know how to swim.

Well they left today and already I'm all anxious. They will be there till Thursday.

Its bugging me more this year, than last and they are older this year.

Ugh.

Next time send them away with something like this: http://www.findmespot.com/en/

They are GPS tracking devices that can be used to send update or emergency messages so that you know someone on an extended trip to a remote location is ok. Since it uses satellites, not cell towers, it's pretty hard to find a place where they don't work.

I'm sorry you'll be anxious in the meantime. I'm sure they'll be fine. It sounds like a great camping trip for them.

thanks jo! Me too. Now, I'm going to go from being completely alone (for one week) to a house full of nine people over the next several day - in a few hours. Talk about shock the system.
