I had to go to court today to finalize my name change after my marriage. Normally, it all happens automatically, but there was a little glitch, and blah blah blah... long story short, there I was listening.
So, the judge was coming down hard on this apparent douchebag who was there with his ex-wife. They were obviously having a custody dispute of some sort. I couldn't hear much, but I could hear the judge repeatedly saying, "You can't tell me that you used to make 100k and now you can only make 30k. You can do better than that." The guy offered up some excuse, I couldn't hear it, and the judge kept repeating himself saying, "You can do better. Maybe this month, you can only make that amount, but next month or 6 months from now, YOU CAN DO BETTER."
Of course, I don't really know the whole story, but I know my ex threatened to jump off a bridge to avoid paying me alimony ( ) so I am all too familiar with how some of these people operate. I'm making a lot of assumptions about this case, but it sure seemed to me that this guy is a douche and was trying to avoid providing for his kid/s.
Really nice to see the court call him out on that!
