First I want to thank everyone who offered food/snack ideas and helped keep me calm in my lists thread!!!  You guys are awesome!

The party was great!  Wh went to work Saturday night, the kids went to bed and I spent the entire night preparing.  By the time wh got home I had the entire place cleaned and organized.   I think I went a bit overboard in that section lol. My walls are clean lol. If I had a ladder I probably would have washed the ceilings too...

My mom came over and while wh, dd and ds decorated, she and i began prep of the food.  Omg the food!  What a hit!!!

Fruit skewers with yogurt dip.

Grape caterpillar skewers with chocolate chip eyes.

Jam sandwiches cut into shapes

Cheese, cracker and pretzel tray

Veggies in a cup with dip

Weiners wrapped in dough, baked and cut up.

Juice boxes

And two cupcake cakes.

I got compliments on it all from the other moms woohoo!!!

When the zoo arrived he asked that he have a few minutes to set up.  Wh took the kids outside and they scattered.  He was beside himself lol. My brother was here and helped round them up lol.

The zoo show was great. He loved my DS. Youngest of the group of 8 kids who was the the most excited about touching and holding everything!!!  He even sat still and held a tarantula!!!

The funniest part of all of this is that wh used to do the same sort of shows when he was in high school.  We have two bearded dragons.  The first animal the presenter pulled out was just that and dd turned to wh and said "dad we have those!!!".

All of the animals in the show wh has had and done shows with.

We all ate, did the cakes, then went outside because wh got a piñata.  8 kids with a stick vs 1 piñata, it didn't end well for the piñata lol   When it got knocked down ALL of the kids dived in, ripping it apart and collecting candy.

Then we came in to give out the loot bags and zoo books and open presents.  Wow my kids got spoiled.

That was the fastest two and a half ours of our lives!!!  Before we knew it the parents were arriving to pick up their kids lol.

One thing that was a total hit with the kids was the balloons. We got a party pack of balloons and helium. Picture a living room filled with 50+ balloons with ribbon hanging down.

Since it seemed to go so well I think I'll plan another party...a Halloween party perhaps??!!??

The new tenants have been slowly moving in.  I introduced myself the other day (I went to school with the wife...small world!!!).  Anyways they were here yesterday and with an older sibling I didn't meet.  Wh heard her ask "are those ALL of their kids?".

One of the reasons I had stayed up all night cleaning was because of how livid I was at some crap the IL's pulled on wh Saturday at work.  I needed to vent my frustration.  I have always been worried about them showing up and causing trouble, more so during the party, that's why we didn't tell them (not that they care anyways!!!  They haven't tried to see my kids in five months!!!).   I didn't want my anxiety about a possible confrontation over shadowing the party so I cleaned and cleaned and arranged to have people here to call the police if they showed.  Luckily they didn't show up and the party was great.

Again thanks to all who helped me out.

It was a great party!

The kids seemed to all have fun. I discovered that the computer books we have (stick the book in holder and it reads the story) is a big hit with all the kids. Before the zoo presentation the kids that were already here had all of the books out.

Congrats!!! You are now a veteran. Now you need to learn that cleaning before hand is usual counter productive. All you need to do is make sure that it's livable, meaning if DFS showed up they wouldn't cite you for being filthy, and then cover the rest up with decorations.

Seriously though I am happy it went well.

The cleaning was more for me than for the party really. I was furious (and more so now) and there was no sleeping for me in that state. My in laws are really horrible people who don't deserve the air they breathe!!!

One of the kids had asked me of it was really ok that she took her plate into the living room. We had one coffee table if they wanted to sit around it but I told them it was ok to sit on the floor and use the sofas if they wanted too. I have a small steam cleaner wh bought me years ago so I can clean carpets and upholstery without any trouble.
