I'm painting today--and not the really fun abstract king. Yellow and red kitchen coming up. The cupboards are shiny white, counter is black, floor will be gray patterned cork, appliances will be stainless. The kitchen can take the strong colours. I am so "YAY!"

YAY for you!
I'll be in the kitchen today, too, but in a totally different way: Waywardson's birthday is coming up and he wants a Thanksgiving dinner. So, today, I shall make his Birthanksgiving dinner!!

I'm looking for someone here to teach me how to post a funny meme...
I tried. I made one at the site, copied the image info & posted it here with the img brackets & stuff - but it didn't even post.
Other than that, I'ma gonna eat, drink local beer & play chess w/ buds. My laundry's all done & folded!

We mowed the lawn front and back...
Weeded around the trees...
Raked and picked up leaves... Yes, we rake leaves in August around here. Thank You Magnolia tree that sheds leaves year round!
Now we're resting before cleaning up and than going out for dinner later.
Today is my last day of summer vacation... 9 weeks off was just not enough.

Oh, be quiet, jrc! I get 4 weeks.
I'm not watching paint dry, obviously. Got to get back to it now, though. Everyone enjoy the day!

I got two weeks, nine would be heaven!
But I wouldn't want to go back either....
I'm sitting on the couch drinking coffee warmed up from yesterday because I was too hung over to drink it. Had a great time on Friday obviously! My favourite youngsters -- I call them youngsters, she's 50 and he's 47, cutest married people you'll ever meet -- came over and brought gourmet pizzas and wine. Lots of wine.
We had a blast but I paid for it yesterday.
Bike ride, groceries, maybe some beach time.

Cooking ahead for the week. Crustless pumpkin pie, enchilada casserole. Watching/listening to top 20 country songs countdown. I used to listen to a lot of country and I'm checking it out again. Kind of a NB thing there. I was supposed to paint the front steps, did all the prep work yesterday. Then I found out the drying time is 72 hours and it's supposed to rain tomorrow so, darn, no painting. Long walk or bike ride instead and maybe go sit by the lake and read. Housework is mostly done so lazing around sounds good. Weekends really should be 3 days long.

I've got the first coat of paint on two walls (one red,. one yellow), and the second coat on the yellow wall. I FREAKING LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!! It's so me. Why didn't I do this before? I've owned the house 6 years and my excuse was I wanted to live in it a while before making any rash decisions.
Thank God I started renovations with my main floor bathroom last year. It's given me the will to continue!
Now enjoying another drying-enforced break.

We went to church this morning (my H had some guy time that involved ATV's). Now, the boys are napping and we are trying to decide what we want to do when they wake up.

Slept until noon, spent the afternoon with DD, refilled the refrigerator so I can eat again, and then parked my butt in my favorite chair to chill out before the work week starts.
I'm tired just typing all of that.

Well, my day ended a lot differently than it began.
At 6:15 we left the house to go to dinner at our favourite Portuguese restaurant.
At 6:30 we drove past the restaurant looking for a parking spot.
At 6:35 S/0 made a left turn in front of a motorcyclist and a bicycle. SMASH! CRASH! No back bumper on my car, which (yes!) he was driving. Motorcyclist on the road, beside the bicyclist. Thank God no one was badly hurt, but everyone was pretty shook up.
S/O says he was sure he had time to turn.
Tomorrow I will insist that S/O make an eye appointment. I don't want a repeat of this.

I'm glad you love your kitchen paint!
Of all days, I chose today to make croissants (NOT crescent rolls- croissants!!) for the first time.
Anyway, I learned a LOT!!

Do you now have strong arm and shoulder muscles, Thought?
Thank you both for the hugs. The smack up has aggravated my touchy lower back. I see a chiro visit in my tomorrow.
