Has anyone found any natural supplements to help with your mood, anger, rage, saddness, depression, sleep, etc. etc. etc. while trying to heal from this hell?

I've been taking fairly high doses of vitamin D. My levels tend to be very low and I have SAD. The mega doses I started after dday seem to help a bit with the depression.

A good multivitamin, plenty of sunshine (for vitamin D), and EXERCISE.

I've said it before and will say it again: herbal remedies/supplements are--just like their pharmaceutical counterparts---drugs, often very potent ones.

They are not inherently safer than prescription meds and can be less so, given lack of regulation and standardization of dose.

If you choose to go this route, it's really important to let your doctor know so that s/he can identify contraindications.

Exercise.

I have slowed down now, but after dday I was bicycling at least once every day, doing yoga 2x a week, and took over mowing the grass from DS.

Exercising helped for each area you mentioned. Cutting back on the alcohol helped with sleep.

I second what Solus said. Vitamin D can be toxic in high amounts, although I, too am deficient.
There are doctors and NP who can recommend herbal supplements that can be used instead of or in addition to conventional drugs, and you can do research on your own. But herbal medication isn't benign.

I took St Johns Wort instead of Celexa, am taking several supplements to help with migraines, but I have researched it with my NP and am doing it with her assistance. Don't do it alone.

Hi there, there are several that can be helpful. I am a Pilates instructor and also want to add the major mental and physical benefits to exercise. That alone can provide mood boosting and help with sleep.

Vitamin D is a very good mood booster, fish oil as well has shown to elevate mood. B complex too has given me a huge boost.
For sleep ( I've suffered chronic insomnia for most of my life) I cannot recommend magnesium enough! It has changed my life and it also is very calming. I personally like natural vitality which you mix with water.

I'm semi obsessive about nutrition- I will say that eating naturally and organically as well as taking a few key vitamins has changed my life.

Hope that helps a bit

St. John's wort is a natural antidepressant and mood lifter, which you can buy at most drug stores and health food shops. I haven't tried it myself but one of my brothers has taken it for a couple of years and says it's very helpful.

Also a +1 to the fish oil too. Not just because it's disgusting and I want to spread the joy of fish oil burps either.
