So a friend of mine and I are going to Salt Lake City and vicinity to relax and visit for a week.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a great spa we could spend a day at and relax and splurge?

Ideally, we'd prefer something in an outdoor/natural setting with baths or thermal sources to an hotel spa. All suggestions are welcome!

I may have not gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

Snowbird is just about a half hour outside SLC--there is a spa, a pool, restaurants and beautiful scenery I went to a convention there in 2008 and loved it.

ETA: If you want an interesting dining experience in SLC, try the Red Iquana. It's a Mexican restaurant (I know-SLC?) and they have 20 different kinds of moles (that's mo-lays, not little mammals ) and really good margaritas.

Don't know if it's considered "girly" or not but if you're going to SLC you HAVE TO visit Temple Square and the Tabernacle. Those are two must-see's while there. Unfortunately, there's no getting into the Temple proper for non-Mormons. Not even all Mormons can get in.

Slight T/J - my DD26, SIL, and GD 18 months are in SLC area on vacation for SIL's family reunion (SIL is Mormon, but he cannot go into the Temple proper - I think he said because he does not tithe). They're staying with family about an hour outside of SLC, but I'll keep an eye out for these ideas - they have another 2 days there.

My DD could use some girl time...my GD came down with strep throat the 2nd day there, and last night she fell down and face planted and has a bump on her head...so I think mommy needs some "real" vacation time.

Yes, we do plan to take at leat a day or two to visit the City itself, including the Temple Square, Tabernacle... And then also some more time for the Bonneville Flats, Atelope Island and do something in the Wasatch Range.

I may have not gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.
