Took Teslet to the book store today to play with the train set they have in the children's section. I was sitting there, perusing some books I had grabbed from the shelves. Another mom sat down and her daughter started playing with the trains. She appeared to be a year older than Teslet...she seemed very quiet and timid. Teslet tends to be a bit bossy but I felt like he was doing a good job minding his own business. The little girl wasn't moving the trains around the track much, so when Teslet would come around to her, he would fly the train up and around her and land on the other side and continue around. No big deal, right? But then the mom of the little girl said to him, "Could you please not put your train in her face?" I didn't see what she was talking about but I certainly didn't have a problem with her saying something to him and I was about to say something to reinforce her...but then she said this in a really rude tone, "Could you maybe be a little more considerate of others?" We both kind of looked at her like, "Huh?" He kept going around the track and did the same thing when he came to her, flew the train up and around her...not in her face...but maybe a little in her personal space. I told him he was too close to her and the next time around to give her more space.
I honestly didn't see the big deal. Did I misread something here?

Not as far as I can see, tesla. If my daughter were blocking another kid's train from moving around the track, I'd be telling her to move to the side so he could "play through."

Some people.

Thanks, nik. It's a silly thing, I know...but I really just couldn't fathom her reason for being so rude to a four year old.

Of course, maybe I should have prefaced this whole event by saying that our kids were using the restroom at the same time and Teslet was very loudly narrating his going number 2. I didn't get the feeling that she was very amused by it.

Oh, come on! How can you not be amused by that? Lighten up, book store lady!

Tes, that 'other' mom was being a butthole. No misread on your part.....
