I posted some time back about my cat. Luna. She is elderly and has kidney failure. The vet was ready to write her off, but she has made a significant come back. Her kidney function is much better than it was, but I have no illusions, she's sick, but doesn't know it. We'll keep her going as long as she feels well.
In the meantime, we have a feral cat. It is a very young, black panthery looking baby. She(?) will not let us approach her at all, but is accepting food. Our plan is to trap, neuter and release her, feed her and provide some shelter for the winter, and allow nature to take it's course from there. We live on the edge of woods, so hopefully, she'll avoid a traffic injury.
Maybe the cat karma gods will reward me with extra time with my Luna!!!
