Here's part of an email I wrote to my dad....
At 5:30pm I was feeding the cats supper. As usual, Jonesy was in front of his dish waiting. I put the food down and when he approached the dish, his head was tilted to the right. He walked about almost crouching and went into the dining room and laid down on the floor. I followed him and he would get up and move about 2 feet from me and lie down. I brought in his food dish but he wasn't interested in it. After the third time, he went into the bedroom and laid down. I noticed he was breathing hard. I left the room and would check on him every couple of minutes. About 20 minutes later, he calmed down so I brought in his food. He sniffed it, stood up, and ate. I gave him a couple of treats and he ate them too. He started to purr when I petted him and purred when I brushed him. About 10 minutes later, I checked on him again. He purred when petted so I figured he was fine and left him in the bedroom.
When I was in the living room, I heard a meow or the sound Jonesy makes when he pukes. I go into the bedroom and he is on the bed rolling around and I see a pee stain on the carpet. I leave him on the bed since he appears safe and let the seizure run its course. I grab a roll of paper towels to clean up the pee stain. He rolls off the bed and on to the floor and against the wall. I grab a bath towel and use it to put him back on the bed. He continued to roll around with his feet flailing. He stopped flailing and looked like he was having trouble breathing. Then he died.
I called Sue and she couldn’t understand me since I was crying. She was in her car right around the corner.
Today at 9, I will be bringing Jonesy to the vet so that they can take care of the rest. He’s in a copier paper box. Last night, I put the box in the corner of the bedroom where he would sleep with us. He wouldn’t sleep in bed but would sleep in the corner so he could keep an eye on us.
The house seems so empty. When we would go to the basement, he would run down with us to where we store the treats hoping to get one. Or when we would give the cats treats at 9pm, he would sit right next to me on the couch so he wouldn’t miss any.

Toonces, I'm so sorry.
It sounds like Jonesy had a stroke. Believe me when I tell you there was absolutely nothing you or anyone could have done.
I had one of my cats suffer a stroke, but unfortunately I had to make the decision to put her to sleep rather than live a few more weeks disabled and suffering.
{{{hugs to you and Jonesy}
