I had my first foot reflexology massage ever today.
Actually it was my first time in a spa/massage place EVER. The closest I've come to a massage is the 10 second one they give you at nail salons.
I've been dying to get a massage, but not to keen on getting a body one and when I read a sign saying "foot massage" that was right up my alley.
I felt weird when I first went in because it was down a hall and in a dark room with a candle. I wanted to say "um can you turn on a light?"
But she arranged the pillows how I wanted them and gave me lemon water to drink and I was like "ok I think I'm going to stay after all..."
She showed me how different spots on the foot relate to different parts in the body that you might have pain or discomfort. And I had a lot of pain spots - especially the shoulder/neck area - which is not surprising. She recommended I come back for a sweedish massage. Which I may.
She told me I did well for my first time.
Now THAT comment made me feel weird.

Ahhh, a foot massage. I had a boyfriend once who gave great foot massages. I was thinking of him earlier today because I heard a song that reminded me of him. Except I was thinking how great he was in bed
And now I am thinking about his foot massages too

Click, you might want to think twice about swedish massage for pressure point pain in the shoulder/neck area (I have it too - to the point that I have received numbing injections for it). Swedish massage is deep tissue massage that releases the toxins inside the knotted muscles (the pressure points) that are causing the pain. It can cause intense pain following the massage - again, from personal experience. If you do get it, be sure to drink copious amounts of water before and afterwards to flush the toxins out of your system. BTW, I miss my late H's foot massages lots!
Be careful what you wish for the most - you may get it.

Foot massages are almost better than sex...
She probably said you did good for your first time because a lot of people have ticklish feet.

Rico gave the BEST foot massages ever. Which were doubly good for me because I injured my left foot years ago and now have reflex sympathetic dystrophy in it.
Rub it right and I'm good; rub it wrong, and I'm on the ceiling.
Which really is the only thing preventing me from doing this.

I love having my feet rubbed! SO is good at it!
I had a friend that did the Reflexology training and needed a "guinea pig" to do 60 hrs of "hands on" before she could certify.....I was glad to give her my feet to work on, especially when I finished a 12 hr day! Unfortunately she developed arthritis badly in her hands and was not able to practice for long
This post has made me think that I should be finding someone to do a reflexology treatment on my feet!
Glad you enjoyed yours!

I had this done recently. I too have neck issues. I usually do the Swedish massage. Was shocked that the reflexology helped my neck like it did. I second the Swedish massage thing. Absolutely do it if you can.
