A question about compartmentalization

Does it just evaporate all of a sudden when the bad choices that were made are revealed? What happens to this mysterious ability? It seems like its present and then it just disappears.

Is it present even during R? For those that have successfully R'd, does it still show up? Just very puzzled about it.

Thanks.

I have a Master's degree in compartmentalization thanks to a miserable, abusive childhood which included sexual and physical abuse. Real Deal Compartmentalization does not just vaporize. It is something I struggle with daily, trying to keep all aspects of my life integrated and not walled off into their neat little boxes to deal with separately. Compartmentalization keeps life from being messy. If someone was to tell me that their ability to compartmentalize simply stopped one day because they willed it that way, I'd think they simply didn't know what they were talking about.

Yup. Everything that NG said.

Like codependency, its a default function you fight your whole life.
