What should I say???

What should I say to a man, 16 years my junior, who has been working for me, doing auto repair, home repair, and general handyman stuff for a year now, who just told me of his love for me? I am dumbfounded! He did this by text actually, when I went out to pick up auto parts for a repair he was working on for me.

He started texting about how he couldn't keep his feelings to himself any longer and that I must know. Since then, he has waxed poetic all weekend, making remarks about my "breathtaking" smile. I didn't answer.

Friday, the day of the initial text, I told him that he felt like family. I don't like being put in a position whereby I must hurt his feelings, but it appears that I have no choice. I will see him today. I suppose that I will say that I don't share the same feelings and that will not change.

Just let him know he's too young and that is isn't anything personal

I woud say that you are flattered, but the feelings aren't mutual. You like him, but see him as a YOUNGER brother. Obviously, I would have this conversation in private, then suggest you take some distance from each other if you can.

Being totally honest, I would probably find a new handyman.

I wish it were that simple; however, I just invested in a project outside of his handyman realm, whereby, he was going to use my barn with it's hoist to complete a project that would realize a gain for us both. Meanwhile, I have $2900 tied up and if he walks now, I haven't any way to complete the project, plus I don't need any additional clutter on my property.

I'm hoping that he can keep his mind occupied and finish the repair of my cars and finish the project, at which point, not working here would be fine.

Meanwhile, I have hired another man to build ranch fence and repair my barns. Luckily, I found him last week, standing in line behind me at the bank. How fortunate!

(very dry SI humor alert) ^^^ Now you're just bragging.

Congrats. Introduce Skippy to someone his own age.
