AJ’s MOM (a.k.a. “The Commish”)

HOW IT WORKS:

This will be a confidence pool. You simply need to pick the teams you feel confidently will win. If the team for each game you pick wins, you get a point. If the team you pick loses, you get a big fat zero. Should a game end in a tie, everyone gets a zero.

In the event of a tie in total points for the week, the tie-breaker will be the Monday Night Football game where you will need to guess the total final score. The tied player closest to the final MNF score without going over will be that week’s winner. Should there be an additional tie or ties, I will put all of the tied players names in a hat and MH and DS will pick a player as the winner.

On Week One, there are two MNF games being played. The tie-breaking game will be the last game being played: Houston at San Diego. MNF ends this season after Week 16, so for the final week, the tie-breaker for that game will be the last game played for that day, to be determined later as flex scheduling will be in effect.

The player with the most correct picks at the end of the regular season wins the title. Then, those players interested in continuing through the playoffs and onto the Super Bowl will be entered into another pool.

Updates with the winners and information on the next week's games will be posted each week by Tuesday morning. With an almost full schedule of Thursday games, it’s advised that you think ahead a bit each week to at least determine your pick for the Thursday game.

WHEN PICKS ARE DUE:

Games this regular season are scheduled for Thursdays, Sundays and Mondays.

Your picks for Thursday Night Games (Weeks 1 – 15) are due no later than the previous Wednesday by 5 PM CT. Your picks for the rest of the week’s games (including your MNF pick(s) and Tie Breaker score) will be due no later than Sunday Game Day at 11 a.m. CT.

On Thanksgiving Day, picks for the games being played that day (there are 3 scheduled) will be due by 9 a.m. CT. Don’t worry – I’ll remind you.

Very important → In fairness to all players, it is each player’s responsibility to ensure that they have a team selected for each game who their winning pick is. If changes are made, they must be made by the deadline indicated for each week on your original posting OR THE PICK WILL NOT COUNT.

The season starts on Thursday, September 5th, when the Baltimore Ravens take on the DENVER BRONCOS. Woot!!! (Yes, please note, the Broncos are the Commish’s favorite team).

WAYS TO MAKE LIFE EASIER FOR THE COMMISH:

If y’all saw the ginormous Excel spreadsheet that is used for this pool, your hair would hurt. Therefore, it would greatly be appreciated if you would simply copy and paste the weekly schedule into your reply thread and then eliminate the team you don’t want. Please do not use team names, the bold feature or ALL CAPS to identify your teams because I then have to retype that information into aforementioned ginormous spreadsheet instead of a simple copy/paste off the thread.

I cannot take picks via PM if you pass the posting deadlines. It’s only fair for all players that everyone follows the deadline rules established. Do the very best to have them in well ahead of the deadline. You may edit your picks up to the game deadlines as established because as you may (or may not) know, edited posts are date and time stamped.

ajs - you're the bomb! Not playing, just dropping in...
I love fb and its history.

@FP - I have ties to da Bears.
How many people know what letters are on their sleeves and what it stands for?
(answer below - I think they're the only team with this unique feature)
- I was born in Cook County, smackdab in the *Central* part

- my HS alma mater's field name?
Brian Piccolo Stadium
.
.
.
The letters are GSH,
in honor of the man who
played for
coached

and owned the Bears. Named them Bears because he wanted to be bigger than "Cubs".

He founded the NFL.
He made it nationwide, in the beginning, by signing "The Galloping Ghost" (who dat?), at that time, THE greatest fb celebrity. Put butts in the seats!

In its inception, the NFL truly was like the "wild wild west". Most of us remember GSH as the old guy with glasses. He himself was that day's Deion Sanders, Bo Jackson. He also played for the NY Yankees!
Carry on.
