I've always suffered with mild bouts of depression. They come and go. It isn't bad enough that I feel I need medication. Before the kids, I would go to a park, find a comfortable spot and just sit with myself for a couple of hours. Now, I have 3 small children (one in kinder and the boys are 23 mos and 5 mos). My H works LONG, unpredictable hours - many of them out of town. I'm lucky if I get to go to the bathroom alone, so carving out two hours alone, away from the house is basiclly impossible. For the year since dday, I've noticed my depressed stages are a little more frequent and last a little longer. I don't know any other coping strategies that I can do with my boys always there. Anybody have ideas or suggestions? I'm really tired of just riding through the days of no motivation to do anything and I know eating my feeling this often is not good for my health.

Having a new baby, and a toddler and one just starting out school is a tough place to be even without the A. As one who has suffered with mild depression in the past I know how you feel and how tough it is to cope when it is not just you that you need to take care of. Even if you've been able to push past the depression with coping skills in the past, you might want to consider checking with your doctor about anti-depressants. There are many you can take if you are still breast feeding if that is your worry. I know many people who have gotten through PPD with the help of ADs and they weren't even dealing with other issues at home. Take care of yourself. {{{musicloving mom}}}
