Have taken over my kitchen!

What do you do to get rid of these ugly, pesky, little vermin?

ThoughtIKnewYa posted 9/2/2013 20:06 PM

Clean everything with bleach and then spray a boric acid solution.

If you're opposed to that, try cinnamon. They hate it and will leave.

jrc1963 posted 9/2/2013 20:07 PM

I can do bleach and cinnamon!

Big fan of the cinnamon solution with ants. Never fails.

Get an anteater as a pet

jrc1963 posted 9/2/2013 22:01 PM

They loved the cinnamon.

Moo, not helpful

ThoughtIKnewYa posted 9/2/2013 22:05 PM

They loved the cinnamon???

Did it have sugar in it??

ThoughtIKnewYa posted 9/2/2013 22:07 PM

People make a big deal out of boric acid, but it's actually less toxic than table salt. It's even in a lot of pools. You can just make a solution and spray it, let it dry, and then get on with it. It dries them up, so they won't stick around long.

Terro liquid ant baits.

There wasn't any sugar in the cinnamon... they rolled around in it like it was a spa treatment.

Boric Acid. Worked when my Gma was a kid, and still does. My go to for this.

The Terro liquid ant baits work like a charm for me. I recently read that ants won't cross a chalk line. My response to that was, where do I draw the line? Inside my drain? Outside my window? I can just picture a whole army of ants on one side of the line, just scratching their heads trying to figure out how to cross.

I second the liquid baits - they are like an oasis! Just remember don't kill the ants coming for the bait. They need to take it back to the nest.

dontknowwhyme posted 9/4/2013 14:57 PM

They make a Terro liquid in a small bottle. Just a drop here and there and then they are gone. Works every time for me.

TrulyReconciled posted 9/4/2013 15:27 PM

^^^ This ^^^ You can put a drop outside right on top of the anthill hole so they don't have to work so hard.

I had heard paprika, they had a party in it.

Terro liquid ant baits are the only thing that has worked after years of battling ants. Miracle stuff.

jrc1963 posted 9/4/2013 20:05 PM

Terro Liquid can be purchased at Home Depot or Lowes?

kernel posted 9/4/2013 20:56 PM

Probably - I got it at Ace Hardware.
