The other day I realized that I had been a moderator here for over a year. The same goes for Jo and AN. This was a big realization and made me reflect back on my days here at SI.

I still remember finding SI for the first time just over six years ago. I was very frustrated that it took 30 or so minutes for my membership to be approved. I also remember how relieved I was that people responded to my first post, and actually understood! Not long after I found DS’s profile and realized that you actually could survive this.

After a while, it was time to move to the next step. We attended a Get together. In attendance were Threnody and Mr. T, Fallen and others. Going to that was totally out of my comfort zone. BR was afraid she’d be stoned as a WS. I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to hold a conversation with Thren. It turned out to be amazing, life changing even. Since then we’ve hosted several ourselves, and attended them all over the US and Canada.

Throughout this all I saw the staff, and wondered how SI worked. The mods were all funny, compassionate, and didn’t hesitate to step in when necessary. They all seemed healed. That was something I aspired to. A funny thing happened as time passed. Healing did happen. Mine, BR’s, our marriage. Almost two years ago I was asked to be a Guide, and just over a year ago a Mod. It’s an honor that I don’t take lightly. As I recall I moved a thread accidentally on my first day.

Thinking about this all made me think of some of the things I always wondered, and some of the questions I’ve seen. I’d like to take this opportunity to answer some of those questions, and then open it up for the rest of you to ask questions for the Staff to answer.

• We Moderate to the Guidelines. Please take a moment to read them if you haven’t recently.

• Yes we can see who is active on the site. No we can’t tell which forum you’re on.

• It’s not personal. We don’t flag or PM because we don’t like “you”. We flag or PM because you’ve done something to violate the Guidelines.

• If we send a PM, at least acknowledge it. Did you get the point? Did it piss you off? Do you understand? Let us know.

• We don’t do anything unilaterally. We always discuss an issue before acting.

• We universally hate the Phrase “No Stop Sign So…..”

• Someone is almost always here, even if you don’t see us. We see you.

• Yes we read every post. We don’t always read them as soon as they’re written, but we get to them.

I can't believe it's been a year already. Seems like just yesterday.

WH5, I remember when you and BR came on SI . You've both come such a long way and are both an inspiration, as a couple and now, you, as a Mod, as are our other Mods and Guides.

I can't imagine the time and hard work you put in behind the scenes, but I appreciate it more than you'll ever know.

We universally hate the Phrase “No Stop Sign So…..”

I always thought that was sort of like someone calling into a radio show and saying "Long time listener, first time caller!" You know, sort of obligatory.

And then there was the time when I said "I see that there's a stop sign but I'm going to post anyway... Note to anybody else who is rule following challenged: You'll miss out on a lot of the really good non stop sign threads in Wayward if you do that.
