I just received this from one of my co-workers that lived through a hell of a lot more than me on 9/11. She heard it on the radio this morning coming into work.

The Kinks "Better Things"

Here's wishing you the bluest sky,
And hoping something better comes tomorrow.
Hoping all the verses rhyme,
And the very best of choruses to
Follow all the doubt and sadness.
I know that better things are on the way.

Here's hoping all the days ahead
Won't be as bitter as the ones behind you.
Be an optimist instead,
And somehow happiness will find you.
Forget what happened yesterday,
I know that better things are on the way.

It's really good to see you rocking out
And having fun,
Living like you just begun.
Accept your life and what it brings.
I hope tomorrow you'll find better things.
I know tomorrow you'll find better things.

Here's wishing you the bluest sky,
And hoping something better comes tomorrow.
Hoping all the verses rhyme,
And the very best of choruses to
Follow all the drudge and sadness.
I know that better things are on the way.

I know you've got a lot of good things happening up ahead.
The past is gone it's all been said.
So here's to what the future brings,
I know tomorrow you'll find better things.
I know tomorrow you'll find better things.

I logged in just to check on you today. I hope everything in that poem for you.

Thanks Pentup,

Today has been difficult. I've been trying to stay far away from the news and social media so that I can at least get through the work day without tearing up. That coping mechanism hasn't been too successful.

I believe that eventually I will be able to shake off the survivor's guilt and embrace the hope.

Oh Mack. Hope you have someone to give you a hug today IRL.

Got off the plane today and thought, do not know why I was able to do this safely again. Then I said a prayer of thanksgiving and came home and did some things that bring me joy. Because I thought, we are here, we have this gift of life and we have to seize more joy out of every day, to be thankful and make each day count.

Wishing the same for you.
